JKHC Research Assistant Recruitment 2026: Overview

The High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh (JKHC) is recruiting Research Assistants through its Office of the Registrar Recruitment at Jammu/Srinagar. This is a contractual assignment attached to the Court, with engagement governed by its Research Assistant guidelines. Alongside filling current positions, the Court plans to prepare a panel for future or anticipated openings.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Local connection: You must hold Jammu and Kashmir domicile under S.O. 166 dated 18 May 2020, or have lived in Ladakh for at least 15 years before applying and actually reside there. The Ladakh condition concerns both your residence history and your current residence.
• Initial assignment: The contract runs for one year from the day you take up the assignment. An extension of up to one further year needs approval from the Chief Justice or the committee nominated by the Chief Justice. An extension is not automatic.
• Employment status: This engagement does not make you a regular employee of the High Court. Read the assignment terms with that distinction in mind before accepting an offer.
• Early discontinuation: The Court can end your assignment before the initial year finishes if it finds your service unsatisfactory. The stated tenure therefore does not guarantee that the assignment will continue for its full duration.
• Joining: You must join within the time given in your engagement order. The notice says requests for additional joining time will not be accepted.
• Leaving the assignment: If you intend to leave during the initial or extended period, you must give one month's advance notice and inform the Judge to whom you are attached.
• Future openings: The proposed panel will remain valid for one year and may be used for later vacancies. Its purpose is separate from filling the positions currently advertised.
• Governing guidelines: The assignment follows Notification 578 and its amendments through Notifications 1835/GS, 807 of 2021/RG and 1287 of 2026. These govern duties and other conditions, so read them alongside this advertisement.

• Interview travel: The Court will not reimburse travel or daily expenses for attending the interview. You will need to arrange these yourself.
