IISER Bhopal Institute Post-Doctoral Fellow Recruitment 2026: Overview

The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Bhopal (IISER Bhopal) is looking for an Institute Post-Doctoral Fellow (IPDF) in its Department of Biological Sciences. The fellow will join the group of Prof. Himanshu Kumar to study non-coding RNAs in infection, inflammation and disease.

The work looks at how circular RNAs, microRNAs and long non-coding RNAs shape host-cell signalling and gene expression during disease. Expect a mix of RNA profiling and bioinformatics with hands-on molecular and cell biology, including gain- and loss-of-function experiments in disease models. Recent PhD holders — and scholars who have already submitted their thesis — can apply.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: One year to begin with, extendable by one more year if your performance is satisfactory.
• Thesis-submitted candidates: You must submit your provisional or final PhD degree certificate within six months of joining, or the appointment may be cancelled. Until the degree is awarded you receive a reduced fellowship; the full amount is restored from the date of the degree.
• Age preference: Preference goes to candidates below 35 years on the last date of application — it is a preference, not a strict cut-off.
• Medical insurance: You must hold a medical insurance policy of at least Rs. 1 lakh in your own name for the whole fellowship. No medical reimbursement is given.
• Leave and OPD: Leave and OPD medical facility follow the rules for PG students in the Institute's PG Manual.
• Accommodation: The institute does not provide housing to IPDFs.
• Teaching: Besides research, you are expected to help with teaching courses in the department.
