ESIC Joka Senior Resident Recruitment 2026: Overview

Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) is recruiting Senior Residents for ESI-PGIMSR, ESIC Medical College and Hospital and the Occupational Disease Centre, Eastern Zone, at Joka in Kolkata. The engagement comes under the residency scheme and covers clinical, non-clinical and super specialty departments. This is a contractual residency, with continuation linked to satisfactory performance.

Posts and Disciplines

• Non-clinical departments: Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Forensic Medicine, Microbiology, Community Medicine and Pharmacology form this group.
• Clinical departments: General Medicine, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Radiology, Radiotherapy, Paediatrics, Anaesthesia, Psychiatry, Chest Medicine, Dermatology, Ophthalmology and Obstetrics and Gynaecology are included.
• Intensive care units: The notice separately identifies the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).
• Super specialty: Paediatric Surgery is listed separately from the clinical and non-clinical groups.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: Your initial engagement lasts one year. Extensions depend on satisfactory work and can take the total residency period to three years, including the initial appointment.
• Earlier residency: Time already spent as a Senior Resident in a government institution counts towards the overall residency limit. This appointment does not restart that period.
• Contract status: Selection gives you no right to permanent confirmation or continued engagement. The notice allows either side to end the contract with one month's notice; resignation without that notice requires payment of one month's salary instead.
• Security deposit: Refund depends on completing the engagement and producing a no-dues certificate. If you end the agreement during the engagement, the deposit is not refundable.
• Private practice: You cannot undertake private practice during this engagement.
• Accommodation: Residential quarters depend on availability. If ESIC provides accommodation, House Rent Allowance is not payable.
• Travel: No travelling or daily allowance is available for joining or other purposes covered by the notice.
• Panel and vacancies: The panel may remain valid for three months after the result, but ESIC can cancel it earlier. The institution can also change the advertised vacancies, stop filling posts or withdraw an engagement offer.
