DoS Group A and Group B Deputation Recruitment 2026: Overview

The Department of Space (DoS), Government of India is filling a large set of Group A and Group B posts in its Secretariat at Antariksh Bhavan, New BEL Road, Bengaluru. Every post is filled on deputation, so this is not an open recruitment for fresh candidates. Only officers who already serve in ISRO or in a Central Government department or service can be considered, and they must either hold an analogous post on a regular basis or have put in the required years of regular service in the feeder grade.

The notice is unusually wide. It covers the administration, accounts and audit wings, the stenographic cadre, the official language cadre and the clerical cadre in one go, so officers from several streams have a post that matches their background. The Office Memorandum is also posted on the ISRO website and was circulated to every ministry and cadre authority for wide publicity.

Posts and Disciplines

• Administration (Group A): Deputy Secretary and Under Secretary. Open to ISRO officers from the administrative stream and to officers of the All India Services or Central Services Group A who hold an analogous post or have the feeder-grade service.
• Finance, Accounts and Audit (Group A): Senior Head (Audit), Principal Pay and Accounts Officer, Senior Audit Officer, Principal Accounts Officer, Audit Officer and Accounts Officer. These posts go to officers from the finance and accounts area of ISRO or of a Central Services Group A cadre.
• Stenographic cadre (Group A): Principal Staff Officer, Senior Principal Private Secretary and Principal Private Secretary, for senior officers already in the stenographic line.
• Official Language cadre: Assistant Director (Official Language) in Group A and Senior Translation Officer in Group B, for officers from the Rajbhasha / translation stream.
• Clerical cadre (Group B): Assistant Section Officer, which is the biggest single post in the notice.
• Stenographic cadre (Group B): Private Secretary and Personal Assistant.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Deputation tenure: Five years for most posts. It is three years for Under Secretary, Audit Officer, Accounts Officer, Assistant Section Officer, Private Secretary and Personal Assistant. The Department can extend or cut the tenure based on its needs.
• Overall cap: Your total deputation, counting any ex-cadre post you held just before this one in the same or another Central Government department, cannot go beyond five years.
• Deputation terms: Pay and other terms follow DoPT OM No. 6/8/2009-Estt. (Pay-II) dated 17 June 2010, as amended from time to time.
• Panel validity: Selected officers are placed on a panel that stays valid for one year from the date it is drawn up.
• Relief on selection: Your employer has to certify that you will be relieved to join if you are selected, so speak to your office before applying.
• Incomplete files: Applications that arrive without the certificates and documents listed in the notice will not be considered.
