DCCM Thoothukudi Technical Assistant Recruitment 2026: Overview

The District Climate Change Mission (DCCM), Thoothukudi wants one Technical Assistant on a contract basis to support its climate and environment work across the district. You will be based at the Thoothukudi District Collectorate and the District Forest Office, working closely with the Mission Director and the District Climate Officer. The engagement runs for 19 months, matching the period the Government has sanctioned for the post.

This is a desk-plus-field job. A big part of it is data, files and reports — compiling climate data, preparing letters and PowerPoint presentations, and keeping Mission records in order — but you will also help run workshops, training and awareness programmes and go on field visits. A degree in life sciences, environmental science, ecology, forestry, wildlife, public policy or an allied field is needed, along with basic typing in both Tamil and English.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Local residents only: You must be a resident of Thoothukudi District to apply.
• Immediate joining: The selected candidate must be ready to join right away.
• Experience gets priority: The DCCM guidelines give priority to candidates with at least one year of relevant work experience, preferably in a Government department or office. Freshers are not barred, but experienced candidates move ahead.
• Office skills: You should be comfortable with MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, data entry and record keeping.
• Travel: Official travel for Department of Environment and Climate Change activities is part of the job, paid as per Government norms.
• Waiting list: The Mission may keep a waiting list of 2 to 3 candidates in line with the DCCM guidelines.
