CSIR IITR Project Staff Recruitment 2026: Overview

CSIR-Indian Institute of Toxicology Research (CSIR-IITR), a laboratory of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, is engaging project staff in Lucknow for institute and externally funded studies. The work spans environmental toxicology, laboratory research, information technology and science outreach. These are project-linked engagements, with each assignment tied to the needs of its research team.

Posts and Disciplines

• Project Associate-I: Assignments cover pharmaceutical compounds in sewage, fumigant safety, lead exposure, contaminant mixtures, the CSIR Aroma programme and JIGYASA outreach.
• Project Associate-II: Teams work on exposome research, river-pollution inspections, industrial environmental monitoring and digital support for JIGYASA.
• Senior Project Associate: The exposome project has separate network-security and cell-culture assignments. These roles involve different kinds of day-to-day work.
• Project Scientist-I: Assignments cover software development, research-data documentation and coordination of the JIGYASA programme.
• Project Research Scientist-II: The research focuses on treatment resistance in non-small cell lung cancer.

Post-wise Duties

Project Associate-I

Your work depends on the project code: it may involve sewage-treatment-plant visits, sample processing, toxicity experiments or scientific demonstrations for students.

Project Associate-II

You may collect and analyse water or industrial-site samples, prepare technical reports, or support student activities and digital content. The assignment determines which work applies to you.

Senior Project Associate

The IT assignment covers networks, firewalls, security monitoring and backups. The laboratory assignment uses human stem-cell-derived and mammalian cultures for experimental studies.

Project Scientist-I

You may develop web and standalone software, organise research data and reports, or coordinate outreach and training. Each project code identifies a distinct assignment.

Project Research Scientist-II

You will support cancer research involving animal models, sequencing, proteomics, gene-editing approaches and patient-derived organoids.

Junior Research Assistant

You will develop and test plant-based polymer filter materials, including air sampling and assessment of how effectively the filters remove pollution.

Project Assistant-I

You will help with data entry, social media and digital content while supporting the programme's outreach activities.

Project Technical Support-III

Your assignment may involve neural stem-cell experiments and animal studies, or cancer cell lines, cell-based assays and organoid work.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: Engagement lasts only for the relevant project. It gives you no right to a regular appointment or absorption in CSIR or CSIR-IITR.
• Project needs: The institute can change, withdraw or leave positions unfilled as project requirements change.
• Travel: You must cover your own travel and daily expenses for attending.
• Conduct: Attempts to influence recruitment can lead to disqualification. The institute's decisions on the engagement are final.
