You will take a single-level objective Computer Based Recruitment Test (CBRT). There is no screening test, regardless of how many people apply.

Paper I — General Studies and Mental Ability: degree standard; 150 questions, 150 marks, 150 minutes.
Paper II — Automobile Engineering (diploma standard): 150 questions, 300 marks, 150 minutes.
Written total: 300 questions for 450 marks.

General Studies coverage: current affairs, science and technology, Indian history with an Andhra Pradesh focus, geography, governance, the economy, environment, disaster management and logical reasoning.

Negative marking: Each wrong answer loses 1/3 of the marks assigned to that question. APPSC may normalise marks if the examination runs in multiple sessions.

Computer Proficiency Test

You will get 60 minutes for a practical test worth 100 marks. Minimum qualifying marks are 30 for SC/ST/PBD, 35 for BC and 40 for OC.

Computer fundamentals: hardware, software, operating systems, internet and email; Part A may use MCQs and carries 20%.
Typing and document formatting: typing assessment carries 25%; organising and inserting objects carries 15%.
Spreadsheets: calculations, formatting and charts carry 20%.
Presentations: slide content, layouts and effects carry 20%.

Typing condition: The annexure allows typing performance to be made qualifying under the applicable norms; it does not specify a words-per-minute threshold.
