Income Tax Delhi Sports Quota Recruitment 2026: Overview

The Income Tax Department, Delhi Region, through the Office of the Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (Pr.CCIT), Delhi, is recruiting meritorious sportspersons as Tax Assistant, Stenographer Grade II and Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS). This is a sports quota drive: your medals and the level you have played at decide your selection, not a written exam. The posts are temporary at first but are expected to become permanent, and every selected candidate is posted within the Delhi region.

Vacancies are spread across 27 games and sports, with separate slots for men and women in most of them. If you have represented India, your state, your university or your state school team since January 2020, and you have at least a Class 10 pass, check which post your education fits.

Posts and Disciplines

• Tax Assistant: desk post for graduates; after joining you must clear a data-entry skill test within the time given in your appointment order.
• Stenographer Grade II: for Class 12 pass candidates; after joining you must clear a computer-based stenography test (dictation and transcription in English or Hindi).
• Multi-Tasking Staff: entry-level support post for Class 10 pass candidates.
• Team games: Basketball, Cricket, Football, Hockey, Kabaddi and Volleyball.
• Individual sports: Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Billiards & Snooker, Bodybuilding, Boxing, Chess, Cycling, Golf, Gymnastics, Judo, Karate, Shooting, Squash, Swimming, Table Tennis, Tennis, Triathlon, Weightlifting and Wrestling.
• Para Sports: any discipline included in the Paralympics and the Para Asian Games.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Which achievements count: Only competitions held between 1 January 2020 and 15 October 2026 in the listed games. Preference runs from international representation down to national, inter-university, Khelo India and national school games; participants who did not win a medal come last.
• Certificate format: Your sports certificate must be issued by the authority named in the notice, in the matching Form 1 to 5 (DoPT OM dated 04.03.2024). Certificates in any other format make you ineligible.
• No reservation: No post is reserved for SC, ST, OBC or EWS. SC/ST candidates only get extra age relaxation, and must upload a caste certificate to claim it.
• Ten-year commitment: You must play for the Income Tax Department, Delhi Region in tournaments for at least 10 years, and give an undertaking not to seek an inter-charge or loan transfer for 10 years.
• Probation: Two years; your participation in tournaments for the department also counts when your probation is confirmed.
• Doping: You must be clear in all WADA/NADA dope tests and face no ongoing doping or unfair-means inquiry; a declaration is required.
• Tentative vacancies: The game-wise slots can change. Unfilled slots in one game may be moved to another game within the same total.
• Pay: Appointment is at the minimum of the pay level for the post.
• Other bars: Candidates with more than one living spouse, debarred candidates, and those still awaiting final exam results are not eligible. No TA/DA or stay is given for document verification.

Application Submission Notes

Apply only on the Sports Recruitment portal of the Income Tax Department, Delhi (reachable from the 'Sports Recruitment' tab on incometaxdelhi.gov.in). You register with your Aadhaar number, mobile number and email, verify the email by OTP, and then fill a five-section form with your documents.

• One application only: Pick all the posts you want in a single form and mark your preference order — more than one application gets every form rejected.
• No paper copy: The department does not accept a printed copy of the form.

• Beware of agents: The department warns that anyone promising a job for money is a cheat.
