IITGN SRF Chitrabhasha Recruitment 2026

IITGN SRF Chitrabhasha Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) is hiring a Senior Research Fellow (SRF) for Chitrabhasha, a project focused on building a large Indian dataset and foundation models for multimodal artificial intelligence (AI). The position sits in Computer Science and Engineering under Prof. Mayank Singh, with the notice issued through the Research & Development Office.

This is a sponsored project appointment at IIT Gandhinagar. The notice identifies support from ANRF and connects the fellowship to multimodal natural language processing (NLP), so you can place the opening within a specific research project rather than a general faculty recruitment drive.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Initial tenure: Your appointment runs for 12 months. An extension depends on satisfactory performance and the availability of project funds. You should treat the initial term and a possible extension as separate commitments.
• Nature of engagement: The institute describes the position as temporary and links it to the sponsored project. The advertised arrangement is a research fellowship for that project, with its own appointment period.
• No automatic shortlist: Meeting the stated minimum conditions does not guarantee that the institute will shortlist or appoint you. IITGN may use a higher cutoff while considering applications.
• Institute discretion: IITGN may decide against calling an applicant for a selection test. It also retains the option to leave the position unfilled in this recruitment round, without giving a reason.
