IISER Pune Project Associate-II Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Pune, an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, is hiring two Project Associate-II staff on a temporary, contract basis under advertisement 82/2026. Both posts are hands-on instrument roles — one runs electron-microscopy and nano-fabrication tools, the other keeps the liquid helium plant and cryogenic systems going. The first post is funded through the Department of Science and Technology's "Quantum Computing" project under the National Quantum Mission (project code 30124736).

These jobs suit engineers from Electronics or Mechanical Engineering, or M.Sc. Physics graduates, who have already spent time operating and maintaining lab instruments. Experience in R&D labs is preferred, so mention every instrument you have handled when you apply.

Posts and Disciplines

• Post No. 1 — Project Associate-II (FESEM and Lithography): works on the Quantum Computing thematic hub project, handling field-emission electron microscopes, micro/nano-patterning tools and the electron beam lithography system.
• Post No. 2 — Project Associate-II (Cryogenics): looks after the institute's Liquid Helium Plant and other low-temperature systems so they run safely and without breaks.

Post-wise Duties

Post No. 1 — FESEM and Electron Beam Lithography

You will operate and handle the FESEM, the micro/nano-patterning instruments and the Electron Beam Lithography (EBL) systems that researchers use for advanced material characterisation and device fabrication.

Post No. 2 — Liquid Helium Plant and Cryogenics

You will operate and maintain the Liquid Helium Plant and the various cryogenic systems, making sure they work safely and efficiently for the labs that depend on them.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Nationality: Only Indian nationals can apply.
• Tenure: One year at first, extendable depending on your performance and on the project continuing.
• No absorption: The appointment is purely temporary, ends automatically without notice or compensation, and gives no claim to a regular job at IISER Pune.
• Rules: Your terms follow the rules of IISER Pune and the funding agency.
• Shortlisting: Meeting the minimum qualification does not guarantee an interview call; a screening committee may limit the number called.
• Waitlist: If a selected candidate does not join or resigns, the post may be offered to a waitlisted candidate.
• Number of posts: The count may change during selection depending on requirements.
• Interview travel: No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview.
• Influence: Any political or other influence leads to disqualification.
