IIMB Academic Associate Economics Recruitment 2026: Overview
The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB), an Institute of National Importance under the IIM Act of 2017, is hiring an Academic Associate for its Economics Area. You will work at the IIM Bangalore–Dorabji Tata School of Undergraduate Studies in Jigani, Bengaluru, reporting to the Chairperson of the Economics Area. IIMB pitches this as a stepping stone for people who want to do a PhD later and build a career in teaching and research — you get to work closely with faculty on their courses and research projects.
The post is a fixed-term engagement, not a regular faculty job. It is ideal if you finished your Master's in Economics recently and want hands-on academic experience before applying to doctoral programmes.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Tenure: The engagement starts for one year and can be extended up to a maximum of three years.
- Stipend: The monthly stipend is all-inclusive, and where you land in the range depends on your experience.
- Who gets priority: IIMB will prioritise candidates who completed their Master's in Economics within the last three years and show a clear long-term interest in doctoral studies in Economics.
- Degree at joining: You need to hold the Master's degree at the time of joining, so final-year students should check they will have it in hand by then.
- Extra duties: Besides research and teaching support, you will help with the institute's proctoring duties when assigned.
- Reservation: IIMB follows the Government of India reservation policy for OBC, SC, ST, EWS and PwD candidates, and encourages women and reserved-category candidates to apply.
