IGIMS Senior Resident Cardiology Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS), Patna, an autonomous institute of the Government of Bihar, is holding a walk-in interview for Senior Residents in its Department of Cardiology. These are ad-hoc appointments for 89 days, made because the department needs residents urgently while the regular three-year Senior Residency recruitment is still being completed.

If you hold an MS/MD in Medicine and want hands-on experience in a busy cardiology department at a major state medical institute, this short engagement is a quick way in. There is no written test: the selection committee scores you on your academic record, publications, training and subject knowledge on the day of the interview.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: The appointment is ad-hoc for 89 days only, until the full-time three-year Senior Resident posts are filled.
• Reservation is for Bihar domicile only: Candidates from outside Bihar can apply but will not get any reservation benefit. Persons with disabilities get reservation and relaxation as per Government of Bihar rules.
• Female seat fallback: If no eligible female candidate is available for the women's seat, a male candidate may be considered.
• Non-practising post: Private practice of any kind, including running a laboratory, is strictly banned, and anyone found doing it will be terminated.
• Campus stay: Staying on campus is compulsory if accommodation is provided; otherwise HRA is paid as per rules.
• Working elsewhere: If you are employed in a government, semi-government or any other organisation, bring a No Objection Certificate from your employer, or you will not be considered. If you are not employed, give a written statement that you are neither working nor pursuing any course.
• No guarantee: Vacancies may go up or down, and being placed on the merit list does not give you a right to appointment. No TA/DA is paid for attending.

Report by 10:00 AM at the HOD Cardiology Chamber, Poly Wing Clinic, 3rd Floor, IGIMS, Sheikhpura, Patna-800014. Your documents are checked first, and the interview starts at 11:00 AM.

Carry self-attested copies along with all original certificates for age, qualification, reservation and caste, and show the originals to the interview board.
