The District Health Society, Tirunelveli, under the Department of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, Government of Tamil Nadu, has released three separate notifications (Notification No. 02/2026, 03/2026 and 04/2026) to fill 82 contractual vacancies in various Urban Primary Health Centres (UPHCs), Health and Wellness Centres, Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital, and Block PHCs across the district. All posts are purely temporary for 11 months with no scope for regularisation. You must be under 35 years of age to apply, and submit your filled application by post or in person to the District Health Office, Palayamkottai.

Who Can Apply?

Medical Officer (Rs. 60,000)

• MBBS or equivalent degree from a Medical Council of India (MCI) recognised institution
• Must have completed Compulsory Rotatory Internship

Staff Nurse / MLHP (Rs. 18,000)

• Diploma in GNM or B.Sc Nursing from a Government or Government-approved private Nursing College
• College must be recognised by the Tamil Nadu Nursing Council / Indian Nursing Council

Urban Health Nurse / ANM (Rs. 14,000)

• If qualified before 15.11.2012: SSLC + 18 months ANM/MPHW (Female) course
• If qualified after 15.11.2012: HSC + 2 years ANM/MPHW (Female) course
• Must have TNNMC registration and be physically fit for camp life

Health Inspector (Rs. 14,000)

• Must have passed 12th with Biology and Zoology
• Must have passed Tamil as a subject at SSLC level
• Must hold 2-year Multi-Purpose Health Worker (Male) Course from Directorate of Public Health

Lab Technician (Rs. 13,000)

• Higher Secondary with Biology + CMLT (1 year) or DMLT (2 years) from Directorate of Medical Education
• Computer knowledge, typing skills, and laboratory experience required

Psychiatric Social Worker (Rs. 23,800)

• M.A. Sociology (Social Work) OR Master of Social Work in Medical / Psychiatry stream

ICTC Counsellor (Rs. 18,000)

• Post Graduate Degree in Sociology, Psychology, or Social Work from a recognised University

Radiographer (Rs. 13,300)

• Diploma in Radio Diagnosis Technology

OT Assistant (Rs. 11,200)

• Theatre Assistant - Para Medical Certificate Course

Senior Treatment Supervisor (Rs. 19,800)

• Bachelor's Degree OR recognised Sanitary Inspector's Course
• Certificate course in computer operation (minimum 2 months)
• Permanent two-wheeler driving licence + ability to ride a two-wheeler

Driver (Rs. 13,500)

• Minimum 10th pass + Valid Driving Licence

Hospital Worker / Cleaner / Security / Sanitary Worker / MTW / Dental Assistant (Rs. 6,000 - Rs. 13,800)

• Minimum 8th Standard pass
• Must be able to read and write (Tamil for Sanitary Worker and MTW)
• Dental Assistant additionally needs Dental Hygiene experience

Age Limit

• You must be below 35 years of age to apply for all posts
• The notification does not mention separate age relaxation for reserved categories

Salary

• Medical Officer: Rs. 60,000 per month
• Psychiatric Social Worker: Rs. 23,800 per month
• Senior Treatment Supervisor: Rs. 19,800 per month

• All salaries are consolidated — no separate DA, HRA, or allowances are paid

Selection Process

Selection happens in two simple stages:

1. Shortlisting: Applications are screened based on qualification, experience, and eligibility criteria.
2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates are called for an interview at the District Health Office, Tirunelveli.

There is no written exam. Government work experience will be given priority for the Urban Health Nurse / ANM post.

• Handle clinical duties as per the specific post — examination, nursing care, lab testing, radiography, or dental assistance
• Maintain patient records, registers, and reports as per government health programme guidelines
• Assist doctors and senior staff during OPD, IPD, and emergency duties
• Support implementation of National Urban Health Mission and other state health schemes
• Conduct field visits, counselling, and community health activities (for ANMs, Counsellors, and Health Inspectors)
• Maintain cleanliness, security, and basic operations of the health centre (for support staff)
• Report to the District Medical Officer and follow shift schedules including night duty when required
