National Test House (NTH) is recruiting a Scientific Officer in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) for its Western Region office in Mumbai. The organisation works under the Department of Consumer Affairs in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution. This is a deputation engagement, including short-term contract, linked to the officer's service in a parent organisation.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Service classification: The post belongs to the General Central Service and is Group B, Gazetted and Non-Ministerial. You would join NTH's Western Region establishment under the deputation terms stated in the notice.
• Place of work: The posting is in Mumbai. The Kolkata address given for sending applications is the receiving office, so keep the work location and the correspondence address separate when considering this opportunity.
• Release from your organisation: Your parent office must be able to spare you immediately if you are selected. The forwarding arrangement therefore matters alongside your own willingness to take up the NTH assignment.
• Withdrawal: Officers who volunteer for the post cannot withdraw their candidature later. Consider this condition before asking your office to forward your application.
• Deputation period: The normal ceiling is three years, counting any immediately preceding deputation or short-term contract in another ex-cadre post in the same or another Central Government organisation or department.
• Promotion and deputation: Departmental officers in the feeder cadre who are directly in line for promotion cannot be considered through deputation. Likewise, officers serving on deputation cannot be considered for appointment through promotion under this provision.

• Qualification discretion: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) may relax qualifications for otherwise well-qualified applicants, with written reasons. It also retains limited discretion over experience for Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe applicants in the circumstances described in the notice; this is not an automatic exemption.
