NRDC Chairman and Managing Director Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB), under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, has issued the advertisement for the Chairman and Managing Director post at the National Research Development Corporation (NRDC). NRDC was set up in 1953 and operates as a Section 8 CPSE under DSIR with the mandate to promote, develop and commercialise technologies from national R&D institutions and universities. This is a board-level appointment — selection is done through PESB interview, with no written exam.

Who Can Apply?

Source of Eligible Candidates

• Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs): Regular employees holding posts at appropriate levels
• Central Government: Group 'A' officers, including officers of the Armed Forces and All India Services (AIS)
• State Public Sector Enterprises (SPSEs): Regular employees at appropriate levels
• Private Sector: Executives from companies with an average annual turnover of Rs. 2,000 crore or more

Qualification and Experience

• Qualification: Graduate degree from a recognised university; professional or technical qualification relevant to NRDC's mandate (technology promotion, R&D commercialisation, IPR, science administration) is desirable.
• Experience: Senior management experience at board level or just below, with proven track record in technology transfer, R&D management, business development, or commercialisation of intellectual property.
• Employment Status: You must be a regular employee of the eligible category — contract or consultant positions are not eligible.

Age Limit

• Minimum age: 45 years as on the date of vacancy (18 October 2026)
• Maximum age: Less than 60 years as on the vacancy date
• Residual Service: Internal candidates need at least 2 years of residual service; external candidates need at least 3 years of residual service as on the date of vacancy

Salary

• Pay Scale: Rs. 1,60,000 - Rs. 2,90,000 per month (IDA pattern, Schedule C CPSE)
• You will also get DA, HRA, perquisites, performance-linked incentives and other benefits as per CPSE rules
• The post is at board level with full executive powers as Chief Executive of the Corporation

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is done through PESB's standard board-level appointment process:

1. Screening of Applications: PESB screens applications based on qualification, experience, residual service and source eligibility.
2. Personal Interview: Shortlisted candidates are called for interview by the Board (PESB members) at the PESB office in New Delhi.
3. Recommendation: PESB sends its recommendation to the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) for final approval.

The tenure of the CMD post is normally five years or until the date of superannuation (60 years), whichever is earlier.

• Oversee financial performance, business strategy and operational efficiency of the Corporation
• Represent NRDC at national and international forums on innovation and technology transfer
• Report to the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) and the Board of Directors
