NPC Advisor and Consultant Recruitment 2026: Overview

National Productivity Council (NPC), an autonomous body under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, is engaging an Advisor and a Senior Consultant/Consultant at its headquarters in New Delhi. The work centres on productivity assessment, manufacturing improvement and support for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). These are contractual assignments connected with NPC’s consultancy, research and training work.

Posts and Disciplines

  • Advisor: This role provides strategic direction for the BPS framework and rating methodology. It links assessment design with pilot implementation and wider dissemination.
  • Senior Consultant/Consultant: This is a single functional role listed under a combined designation. It focuses on sector-specific assessment frameworks, benchmarking and coordination of pilot assessments in MSMEs.

Post-wise Duties

Advisor

You will guide the development of the BPS framework and rating methodology, review assessment parameters and check scoring mechanisms. The assignment includes contact with DPIIT, APO experts, industry associations and other stakeholders, along with oversight of pilot implementation and dissemination.

Your work also covers quality management, training and capacity building. Data analysis and reporting form part of the assignment alongside the strategic guidance work.

Senior Consultant/Consultant

You will develop sector-specific assessment frameworks, coordinate pilot assessments in MSMEs and prepare benchmarking reports and sectoral analysis. The role also includes stakeholder workshops, training programmes and support for developing and validating digital assessment tools.

You will handle data analysis, reporting and stakeholder coordination as part of this work. Quality and compliance monitoring are included in the role, so the assignment connects assessment development with its practical use.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Contract tenure: The initial engagement is for one year. Extension up to three years depends on performance, so you should not treat the longer period as guaranteed.
  • No regular appointment entitlement: The contract does not create a right to regular appointment, absorption or regularisation in NPC or its associated organisations. The notice also rules out claims to benefits or compensation on that basis.
  • Assignment rules: NPC’s applicable provisions govern working hours, travel and daily allowance, and leave for this assignment.
  • Termination: NPC may end the contract without notice if performance is unsatisfactory, assigned functions are not carried out, or conduct is unacceptable.
  • Equipment: NPC will not provide a laptop for the assignment. Keep this condition in mind when considering the engagement.
  • Recruitment discretion: NPC may cancel or withdraw the advertisement without giving a reason.
