NERIWALM Young Professional Project Recruitment 2026: Overview

North Eastern Regional Institute of Water and Land Management (NERIWALM) is hiring Young Professionals for a contractual research project based at Tezpur, Assam. The institute works under the Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India.

The project studies water bodies on Majuli Island, including their changing features and behaviour, to support sustainable water resources management. It sits within NERIWALM's wider work on irrigation, agriculture, horticulture, and soil and water conservation. Your engagement is tied to this project and its needs.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Contract duration: The engagement lasts for 15 months or until the project ends, whichever happens first. Any extension depends on project needs and approval from the funding agency.
• Employment status: This is a contractual engagement and gives you no claim to a regular appointment. Other benefits follow the institute's applicable contractual rules.
• Ending the contract: NERIWALM may cancel the appointment at any time without giving a reason. In the normal course, the institute gives one month's notice; you may also end the contract by giving one month's notice.
• Leave: You receive eight days of leave per calendar year on a proportionate basis. Absence beyond this allowance is treated as leave without pay and needs the controlling officer's permission.
• Attendance: You must record attendance through the Aadhaar-enabled biometric system and remain available during normal office hours. Work may extend beyond office hours or to holidays when needed, without additional payment.
• Confidentiality: You must sign the prescribed secrecy declaration when you join. Sharing project information, publishing material or speaking to the media using information gained through the assignment needs prior institute approval.
• Service certificate: The institute issues an experience certificate after satisfactory completion of the engagement and receipt of the required performance report, paper or assessment report.
• Offer terms: Selected applicants receive an offer stating the conditions of engagement and must provide an undertaking accepting those conditions.
• Work support: NERIWALM provides workspace and other support it considers necessary for the assignment.
• Interview travel: You must meet your own travel costs for attending the interview; the institute does not reimburse them.
• Recruitment decisions: The institute may cancel the advertisement or stop the engagement process. It may also accept or reject applications, and may review the engagement guidelines as circumstances change.
• Disputes: Appointment-related disputes fall under the District and Session Court at Tezpur.
