About This Job

Apply for 4 JRF, Project Associate-II and RA-I posts in MNNIT. Engineering or relevant research degree eligible. Last date: 16 Sep 2026.

MNNIT Applied Mechanics Multi-Post Recruitment 2026: Overview

Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology Allahabad (MNNIT) is building a research team in its Department of Applied Mechanics for an Armament Research Board and DRDO-funded project. The project studies failure envelopes and multiscale modelling for solid rocket propellants through linked experimental and computational methods. The team combines hands-on material testing with advanced simulation, making it relevant to candidates from mechanical, aerospace, materials, production and computational-mechanics backgrounds.

The appointments are split between MNNIT Allahabad in Prayagraj and HEMRL, DRDO in Pune. This gives the project a joint academic-and-defence-laboratory setting: some members will work close to the institute's modelling and research group, while others will support work at the specialist DRDO establishment. Choose the role with care because the expected academic level, research independence and work location differ.

Posts and Disciplines

  • Junior Research Fellow: An entry research role for postgraduate engineers with a qualifying national-level examination. The team needs exposure to composites, finite-element analysis or related experiments; one appointee works at MNNIT and another at HEMRL.
  • Project Associate-II: A modelling-and-testing role based at MNNIT Allahabad. Experience with ABAQUS or ANSYS and composite experiments will help you contribute quickly.
  • Research Associate-I: An advanced research role at HEMRL in Pune for a doctoral researcher, or an experienced postgraduate engineer with an SCI-indexed paper. The work calls for deeper knowledge of composite characterization and finite-element model development.

Post-wise Duties

Junior Research Fellow

You will support experimental and computational studies of solid propellant materials, prepare models or specimens, record results and help connect laboratory observations with simulation output. Depending on your assigned site, you will work with the MNNIT group or the HEMRL team.

Project Associate-II

You will develop and run finite-element models in tools such as ANSYS or ABAQUS, assist with composite-material experiments and organize data for the wider multiscale study. The role is centred at the Applied Mechanics department in Prayagraj.

Research Associate-I

You will take greater ownership of mechanical and thermal characterization, model development and interpretation at HEMRL. Your publication and research background should help the team turn experimental findings into defensible technical analysis.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Funding condition: An offer can be issued only after the project funds are received and available.
  • Temporary status: Every role is contractual and governed by the funding agency's rules and MNNIT's Research and Consultancy Cell service conditions.
  • Shortlisting: Holding the minimum qualification does not guarantee an interview. MNNIT will consider merit, earlier work in the subject and the project's needs.
  • Exceptional profiles: The institute may relax qualification or experience conditions for a candidate with unusually strong credentials.
  • Interview attendance: Interviews are held physically. Shortlisted candidates must arrange their own travel because no TA or DA is paid.
  • Employed applicants: If you are already working, bring a No Objection Certificate from your employer when you attend.
  • Benefits: Yearly leave, carry-forward leave and medical benefits may be available under the rules applicable to project staff.
