About This Job
The Maharashtra Institution for Transformation (MITRA) is hiring a Deputy Project Director for its big water program, the Maharashtra Urban Water Supply Sanitation & Reuse Program (MUWREP). This is a senior role with a salary of Rs. 3,00,000 per month. If you have a Master's degree and around 15 years of experience in project management or policy work, you can apply. MITRA is the Maharashtra state government's think tank, set up to guide planning and development across the state. It has released a notification to hire a Deputy Project Director for the MUWREP project, which is supported by the World Bank and other Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs). This is a contract job for 2 years, which can be extended up to 5 years based on your performance and the needs of the program. You will work closely with government departments, financial institutions, and technical teams to deliver the water supply, sanitation, and reuse project.
Who Can Apply?
Educational Qualification
- You should have a Master's degree in Economics, Environmental Studies, Public Policy, Finance, or a related field.
- A degree from a reputed (Tier 1) institution is preferred.
Experience
- You need 15 years of relevant work experience in project management, policy research, development programs, or consulting.
- Good news for MDB experts: If you have worked in a Multilateral Development Bank (World Bank, ADB, etc.) or led an MDB-assisted project, the experience requirement drops to just 5 years.
- Experience with government departments, development agencies, consulting firms, or research bodies is preferred.
- Skills in policy analysis, stakeholder engagement, project monitoring, and report writing are an added plus.
Salary
- You will get a fixed salary of Rs. 3,00,000 per month.
- This is a contractual post, so the pay is a consolidated monthly amount.

Responsibilities
- Manage project timelines, work plans, and deliverables for the MUWREP program
- Coordinate day-to-day work with the World Bank and other Multilateral Development Banks
- Act as the main link between financial institutions, government bodies, and technical teams
- Review project concept notes, appraisal documents, and technical designs
- Build climate resilience and sustainability into the project design
- Oversee project implementation and keep work within budget and quality limits
- Help prepare procurement documents as per project guidelines
- Prepare progress reports, policy briefs, and presentations for the program
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Qualification
Master's degree in Economics, Environmental Studies, Public Policy, Finance, or a related field (Tier 1 institution preferred)
Preferred Qualification
Master's degree from a reputed Tier 1 institution
Required Skills
Project management, policy research, stakeholder engagement, report writing, analytical and research skills, coordination with government agencies

5.0 - 15.0 years
