The appointment is for one academic year, up to 15 April 2027. Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualification

• Qualification: You must meet UGC norms for Assistant Professor in the relevant discipline.
• Subject match: Apply only for the discipline where your postgraduate qualification, specialization and UGC eligibility match the post.
• UGC-qualified candidates: Candidates meeting UGC qualification norms are considered for Rs. 40,000 per month.
• Non-UGC candidates: If UGC-qualified candidates are not available, MGU may consider non-UGC candidates with salary of Rs. 33,000 per month.

Reservation and Kerala Conditions

• Community reservation: If you apply under a reservation category, carry the required community certificate and Non-Creamy Layer Certificate where applicable.
• PH / EWS reservation: Carry the concerned certificate as per State Government criteria.
• Kerala condition: Natives of states other than Kerala need not apply for posts notified exclusively under community reservation quota.
• Outside Kerala degrees: Degrees from universities or institutions outside Kerala must have an MGU equivalency certificate.

Age Limit

• General age rule: Age is as per UGC Regulations for appointment of Assistant Professors.
• Retired teachers: Retired college or university teachers can also be considered, but the maximum age is 70 years as on 1 January 2026.

Salary

• UGC-qualified candidates: Consolidated salary of Rs. 40,000 per month.
• Non-UGC candidates: If considered in the absence of UGC-qualified candidates, salary is Rs. 33,000 per month.
• Appointment period: The contract is for one academic year up to 15 April 2027.

• Application fee: The official notification does not mention any application fee for attending the walk-in interview.

Selection Process

Selection is through walk-in interview at the Vice Chancellor's Chamber, Mahatma Gandhi University.

1. Reporting: Report at the discipline-wise reporting time with the filled proforma and signed copies of documents.
2. Document Scrutiny: MGU may check age, community reservation, qualifications, specialization, UGC/peer-reviewed publications, experience, awards, CGPA conversion and other claims.
3. Walk-in Interview: Attend the interview at the time fixed for your discipline.
4. Agreement and Joining: Selected candidates must execute an agreement with the university as per existing norms.
