Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University (KVAFSU), Bidar is hiring 96 Teaching posts — Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor across veterinary and allied subjects. KVAFSU Teaching Posts Recruitment 2026 - 96 Posts
Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University (KVAFSU), Bidar has released a recruitment notification for 96 teaching posts under the Kalyana Karnataka Cadre (371-J) and the Residual Parent Cadre. The posts cover three levels — Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor — in subjects like Veterinary Anatomy, Microbiology, Pathology, Dairy Technology, Fish Processing and many more. Knowledge of Kannada is mandatory for all posts, and selection is based on academic score and merit, not a written exam. Both freshers (for Assistant Professor) and experienced teachers can apply depending on the post.
Vacancy Breakdown
The 96 posts are split across three teaching levels and two cadres:
- Professor: 20 posts (Kalyana Karnataka Cadre 14 + Residual Parent Cadre 6)
- Associate Professor: 22 posts (Kalyana Karnataka Cadre 18 + Residual Parent Cadre 4)
- Assistant Professor: 54 posts (Kalyana Karnataka Cadre 25 + Residual Parent Cadre 29)
Kalyana Karnataka Cadre posts are reserved for candidates from the Kalyana Karnataka region only. Local candidates can apply for both the Local Cadre and the Residual Cadre.
Who Can Apply?
For Professor (Rs. 1,44,200-2,18,200)
- Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Science / Animal Husbandry / Dairy Science / Fisheries Science in the concerned discipline
- Master's degree with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST)
- Ph.D. in the concerned/allied subject with at least 10 research publications in NAAS/UGC listed journals
- At least 10 years of teaching/research experience, including 2 years as Associate Professor
For Associate Professor (Rs. 1,31,400-2,17,100)
- Bachelor's degree in the relevant discipline + Master's degree with 55% marks (50% for SC/ST)
- Ph.D. in the concerned/allied subject with at least 7 publications
- At least 8 years of teaching/research experience
For Assistant Professor (Rs. 57,700-1,82,400)
- Bachelor's degree in the relevant discipline + Master's degree with 55% marks (50% for SC/ST)
- You must have cleared NET in the concerned subject (UGC/ICAR/CSIR/SLET/SET) or hold a qualifying Ph.D. under UGC 2009/2016 regulations
- Candidates with only basic veterinary qualification + PG who have cleared the ASRB NET get preference
Other Requirements (all posts)
- Knowledge of Kannada is mandatory. If you did not study Kannada in S.S.L.C, you must pass a 150-mark Kannada test (50% to qualify)
- Veterinary Science candidates must hold valid registration with the Karnataka Veterinary Council / Veterinary Council of India
Age Limit
- Age limit applies only to Assistant Professor posts
- General merit: up to 40 years
- 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B categories: up to 43 years
- SC, ST and Cat-I: up to 45 years
- Age is calculated as on the last date of application (20 June 2026). In-service candidates get relaxation as per Government of Karnataka rules
Salary
- Professor: Rs. 1,44,200 - Rs. 2,18,200 per month
- Associate Professor: Rs. 1,31,400 - Rs. 2,17,100 per month
- Assistant Professor: Rs. 57,700 - Rs. 1,82,400 per month
- All posts are in the 2016 ICAR/UGC pay scale plus DA, HRA and other allowances as per Karnataka government rules

Selection Process (No Written Exam)
Selection is based on your academic score and merit, not a written test:
- Score Card Evaluation: Your qualifications, research publications and experience are scored as per the KVAFSU prescribed score card
- Shortlisting: Candidates with higher qualification and merit get preference
- Interview: Shortlisted candidates are called for interview
- Document Verification: You must submit 3 sets of hard copies along with self-attested certificates during physical verification
If you did not study Kannada in S.S.L.C, you must also clear a 150-mark Kannada language test (minimum 50%) to be eligible for interview.

- Teach veterinary, animal husbandry, dairy or fisheries subjects as per the university curriculum
- Prepare lesson plans, study materials and question papers for students
- Guide postgraduate and doctoral students in their research work
- Conduct research and publish papers in NAAS/UGC listed journals
- Evaluate student assignments, practicals and examinations
- Participate in university committees and academic activities
- Support extension and outreach programmes of the university
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Qualification
Master's degree (55% marks; 50% for SC/ST) in the relevant veterinary/animal/dairy/fisheries discipline; NET or qualifying Ph.D. for Assistant Professor
Preferred Qualification
Ph.D. in the concerned subject with research publications
Required Skills
Knowledge of Kannada (mandatory); valid registration with Karnataka Veterinary Council / VCI for veterinary candidates
