The Karnataka State Higher Education Academy is based at Haliyal Road, Dharwad and is part of the Department of Higher Education, Government of Karnataka. The Academy has released notification number ED/5/EGOV/2026 dated 19 May 2026 to fill the post of Director. This is a top academic-administrative position, so only senior professors with strong experience in higher education can apply.

Who Can Apply?

• Current Role: You must be a Professor in a Government Higher Education Institution of a State or Central Public University, or an Institute of National Importance of the Government of India.
• Qualification: You must hold a Ph.D from a recognised university.
• Teaching/Research Experience: Minimum 15 years of teaching or research experience in Higher Education.
• Administrative Experience: Minimum 5 years in a senior academic-administrative position.
• Clean Record: You must not have any pending disciplinary or vigilance proceedings against you.

Age Limit

• Your age must not exceed 60 years as on the closing date of application.
• The appointment runs for 5 years or till the age of 65, whichever is earlier.

Salary

• You will draw your own salary and grade during your tenure as Director.
• In addition, you will get a Director Allowance of Rs. 10,000 per month.
• If a retired person is appointed as Director, the pay will be reduced by the amount of pension and other allowances they already draw.

• Prepare reports and advise the Department of Higher Education on academic matters
• Build programmes that improve teaching and research quality in Karnataka's colleges
