JMI Multi Post Faculty Recruitment 2026: Overview

Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) is hiring teaching staff for its engineering, science and education units in New Delhi for the academic session 2026-27. The notice brings together Assistant Professor appointments under the self-finance programme and Guest Faculty appointments under the regular programme. Your department and appointment type matter because the service terms differ between these arrangements.

Posts and Disciplines

• Electrical Engineering: the Assistant Professor appointment is in the Department of Electrical Engineering under the Faculty of Engineering and Technology. It belongs to the self-finance programme.
• Computer Engineering: the University Polytechnic needs Guest Faculty to teach this branch, also within the Faculty of Engineering and Technology.
• Computer Science: the Department of Computer Science has a separate Guest Faculty opening under the Faculty of Sciences.
• Agriculture and Art in Education: these Guest Faculty subjects sit within the Department of Teacher Training and Non-Formal Education, Institute of Advanced Studies in Education.
• ITEP Hindi Language and Urdu Communication: these are separate Guest Faculty teaching areas in the same education department. Choose the subject that matches the appointment you are seeking.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Guest Faculty tenure: your engagement begins when you start taking classes, but cannot begin before the Local Selection Committee date. It continues for the academic session, while the vacancy exists, or until further orders, whichever comes first.
• Contractual Assistant Professor tenure: the initial engagement is for 180 days or until further orders, whichever comes first. The same restriction on starting classes before the Local Selection Committee date applies.
• Teaching workload: Guest Faculty under the regular programme must share the same workload as contractual Assistant Professors. Keep this condition in mind when considering a guest appointment.
• Ending the engagement: JMI may terminate either type of appointment with one month's notice. Selection does not give you a right to a permanent appointment or regularisation.
• Provisional openings: the advertised positions may change. JMI also keeps the right to hold or cancel the Selection Committee for any of the posts.
• Conduct: canvassing by you or someone acting on your behalf can disqualify your application.

The prescribed form matters: JMI will reject incomplete applications and applications written on plain paper. Online payment is only the fee-payment method; the notice directs you to send the application itself to the concerned department or centre.
