JKHC District Judge Recruitment 2026: Overview
The High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh (JKHC) is conducting direct recruitment to the District Judge Entry Level cadre under the Jammu and Kashmir Higher Judicial Service Rules, 2009, as amended. This is a fresh notice that replaces the earlier advertisement identified below, while protecting certain applications already made under the previous exercises.
Earlier applicants should check their position carefully. The notice distinguishes between people applying now and earlier applicants whose candidature remains valid under the conditions it sets. You should read that provision before making another application, because the Court expressly says that qualifying earlier applicants do not need to apply again.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Governing rules: Appointment follows the amended Higher Judicial Service Rules. The Court asks you to read those rules alongside the recruitment notice before applying.
- Earlier applications: You need not apply again if you applied under Notification No. 1841 of 2024 or Notification No. 03 of 2024, met the rules applicable at that time and your candidature was not rejected. This protection depends on all the conditions stated in the notice.
- Reservation claims: Your reserved-category claim remains provisional until the appointing authority checks its authenticity. A false or fraudulent claim can lead to exclusion from the examination and further action.
- Disqualifications: The notice lists dismissal from public service, criminal conviction, examination or selection debarment, and attempts to influence the recruiting authority among the grounds that prevent appointment. It also sets out marriage-related restrictions, subject to the exception stated for men where permitted by law.
- Accuracy: Wrong information can cause rejection at any point. Check your particulars carefully, including claims relating to earlier service or practice, before completing the form.
- Recruitment announcements: Follow the High Court’s official announcements for later arrangements. The Court will not accept a claim that you were unaware of the published schedule or venue.
- Travel costs: No TA/DA is payable for attending the test or interview. Plan your travel on that basis.
- Submission restrictions: The Court accepts applications only in the mode specified by the notice. Incomplete applications and submissions outside the permitted window will not be accepted.
Corrigenda and Notices
- Fresh notification dated 3 October 2026: This notice supersedes Advertisement No. 1841 of 2024/RG/GS dated 8 August 2024, read with its corrigendum dated 12 August 2024. The protection for qualifying earlier applicants also refers to Notification No. 03 of 2024 dated 5 June 2024.
