The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry, has released Advertisement No. JIP/PSM/HTAIn/10/26 for 1 Senior Health Economist post under the Health Technology Assessment in India (HTAIn) project funded by the Department of Health Research (DHR), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. This is a contract appointment in the Department of Preventive and Social Medicine at JIPMER. The position is suited for candidates with a background in health economics, public health, or related medical research fields with experience in health technology assessment, research methodology, or epidemiology.

Who Can Apply?

For Medical Candidates

• MD / MS / DNB / MPH from a recognised university or institution
• 3 years of research experience in the relevant field after obtaining the postgraduate degree

For Non-Medical Candidates

• Ph.D. in a relevant subject (such as Economics, Health Economics, Public Health, Statistics, Epidemiology)
• 3 years of research experience in the relevant field after obtaining the Ph.D.

Relevant field includes health economics, health technology assessment, public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, or related disciplines.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 45 years as on the last date of application

Salary

• Consolidated salary of Rs. 1,23,000 per month
• HRA (House Rent Allowance) as applicable under project norms
• This is a project-based contractual position — pay is as per DHR project norms

Selection Process

The selection will be done in 2 stages:

1. Shortlisting: Candidates will be shortlisted based on their application, CV, and research experience. Only shortlisted candidates will be called for the interview.
2. Interview: The interview will cover topics including Health Technology Assessment (HTA), Research Methodology, and Basic Epidemiology. The tentative interview date is 11 May 2026.
