Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry, has released an advertisement (Advt. No. JIP/MEDONCO/ICMR/2026/01) for project-based contract staff for the ICMR-funded Centre for Advanced Research (CAR) project. The full project title is Centre for Advanced Research (CAR) to Promote Translational Studies of Regionally Relevant Unmet Oncologic Needs in Haematological Malignancies with emphasis on High-risk and Relapsed/Refractory Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL). The project is currently in its 2nd year with a total duration of five years. Initial appointment is for six months, with extension based on performance. This is a purely contractual role — there is no claim to any regular post at JIPMER.

Who Can Apply?

1. Project Research Scientist I (Medical) — Clinical Coordination

• Essential Qualification: MBBS / MVSc / BDS with 2 years of experience, OR a postgraduate degree in any medical discipline
• Desirable: Knowledge of REDCap, statistical software; research/clinical experience in Oncology; GCP & Ethics training; proficiency in local language; MS Office skills; scientific publications

2. Project Research Scientist I (Non-Medical) — Lab

• Essential Qualification: First/Second class postgraduate degree (including integrated PG or PhD) in Molecular Biology, Cancer Biology, Biotechnology, Pharmacology, Pathology, or Life Sciences — with 1 year of experience
• Desirable: Experience in LCMS/GCMS metabolomics, proteomic assays, NGS, bioinformatics; biorepository work; GCP training

3. Project Research Scientist I (Non-Medical) — Biostatistics

• Essential Qualification: First/Second class postgraduate degree (including integrated PG or PhD) in Biostatistics / Statistics — with 1 year of experience
• Desirable: Experience in oncology database analysis, multi-omics data, REDCap, SAS/R programming, machine learning, advanced statistical modeling

4. Project Technical Support III (Lab/Genomic Work)

• Essential Qualification: 3-year graduation degree in Molecular Biology, Cancer Biology, Biotechnology, Pharmacology, Pathology, Life Sciences, or MLT — with 3 years of experience; OR PG in relevant subject/field
• Desirable: Experience in phlebotomy, sample processing for biobanking, molecular biology experiments (PCR, nucleic acid extraction), lab quality control, GCP & GLP knowledge

5. Project Nurse III

• Essential Qualification: B.Sc. Nursing from a recognised university
• Desirable: Research/clinical experience in Oncology; cancer patient counseling; GCP training; proficiency in local language

6. Data Entry Operator (DEO)

• Essential Qualification: Bachelor's degree in Computer Application / IT / Computer Science / Electronics & Communication from a recognised institution
• Desirable: Typing speed of at least 15,000 key depressions per hour; minimum 3 years of data entry experience; experience with clinical research data in Oncology

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 35 years for all posts
• Age relaxation may be given at the discretion of the Principal Investigator

Salary

• Project Research Scientist I (Medical): Rs. 67,000 + 20% HRA (Rs. 13,400) = Rs. 80,400 per month
• Project Research Scientist I (Non-Medical — Lab & Biostatistics): Rs. 56,000 + 20% HRA (Rs. 11,200) = Rs. 67,200 per month
• Project Technical Support III & Project Nurse III: Rs. 28,000 + 20% HRA (Rs. 5,600) = Rs. 33,600 per month
• Data Entry Operator: Rs. 29,200 per month
• A 5% salary increase is applicable in the 3rd year
• Note: No other allowances or facilities apart from the consolidated salary will be provided

Selection Process

Shortlisting is done based on CV and application form. Shortlisted candidates will be notified by email with the test/interview date. The selection will proceed as follows:

1. Written Test — syllabus based on the discipline and roles/responsibilities mentioned in the eligibility
2. Skill Test — if applicable in the relevant discipline
3. Interview — may be held in person or via video conferencing at the discretion of the Principal Investigator. No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview

Final selection is based on CV, application, and performance in written test/interview. The decision of the Project Investigator is final.

• Conduct and coordinate research activities under the ICMR CAR project in the assigned discipline
• Manage research databases, maintain project files and documentation
• Assist in protocol writing, regulatory approvals, and ICMR/IEC communications

• Perform data entry, quality checks, and generate monthly progress reports
• Handle sample collection, processing, storage, and lab work as per the study protocol
