JIPMER, Puducherry has released a recruitment notice for 1 Project Nurse II and 1 Data Entry Operator post under the ICMR-NINE funded National Stroke Health Registry project, led by Dr. Saranya B Gomathy from the Department of Neurology. These are contract positions for 1 year, extendable based on your performance and continuation of the project. The selected candidates will help collect, verify and manage clinical data of stroke patients treated across the Medicine, Neurology, Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics departments at JIPMER. The National Stroke Health Registry aims to build a structured, long-term dataset on stroke patients so doctors can track treatment patterns, complications and outcomes more effectively over time.

Who Can Apply?

For Project Nurse II (Rs. 23,600/month):

• Qualification: You need a B.Sc Nursing or GNM degree from a recognised institution, registered with the State Nursing Council. A B.Sc in Neurotechnology or as an Emergency Medicine Technician also qualifies.
• Experience: No specific minimum experience is required, though prior experience in clinical research, neurology or stroke care is desirable.
• Desirable Skills: Good communication and computer skills will help during the selection process.
• Note: There is no fixed minimum duration of prior experience for this role — freshers with the right qualification can also apply.

For Data Entry Operator (Rs. 17,000/month):

• Qualification: You need to be a graduate in any discipline, along with a DOEACC 'A' Level or equivalent Computer Applications qualification.
• Desirable Skills: Experience with clinical databases or research projects, and proficiency in MS Office, Excel and electronic data entry, will be an advantage.
• Note: Basic familiarity with spreadsheets and hospital or research databases will help you settle into the role quickly.

Age Limit

• The maximum age limit for both posts is 35 years, calculated as on the last date of receipt of applications (25 July 2026).

Salary

• Project Nurse II: You will get a consolidated salary of Rs. 20,000 plus 18% HRA (Rs. 3,600), totalling Rs. 23,600 per month.
• Data Entry Operator: You will get a consolidated salary of Rs. 17,000 per month.
• No other allowances apart from the amounts mentioned above are payable for either post — the salary is a fixed consolidated sum.

Selection Process

JIPMER will select candidates for both posts through the following stages:

1. Screening: Your application, CV and supporting documents will be screened, and the list of shortlisted candidates will be published on the JIPMER website.
2. Written Test: Held separately for the Project Nurse II and Data Entry Operator posts, covering non-communicable disorders, stroke basics, stroke complications, and drugs used in stroke treatment.
3. Interview: Tests your general computer knowledge, data handling skills, aptitude, teamwork ability and motivation for research work.

Both the written test and interview will be held on 5 August 2026 at the Neurology Seminar Room, 2nd Floor, Superspeciality Block, JIPMER. Certificate verification runs from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM, the written test from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, and interviews for shortlisted candidates start at 2:00 PM the same day.

These are purely contract positions, co-terminus with the project — you will have no claim to a permanent position at JIPMER once the project ends. Canvassing in any form, or submitting false information, will lead to disqualification at any stage.

• Collect demographic, clinical and laboratory data of stroke patients from case files, the hospital information system and PACS
• Enter patient data into the online hospital-based stroke registry portal accurately and on time
• Perform quality checks and maintain the accuracy of the stroke registry database
• Coordinate with the Departments of Medicine, Neurology, Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics for data collection
• Extract information from written and digital case files of both admitted and outpatient cases
• Support day-to-day data management and administrative tasks of the project
• Maintain confidentiality of patient records at all times
• Report data discrepancies and project progress to the Principal Investigator
