Service Conditions and Caveats

• Initial engagement: your appointment is for one year from joining. The notice describes a temporary research assignment linked to this sponsored project.
• Extension: continuation depends on performance. The notice allows extension up to a maximum period of four years, with the engagement ending earlier if the project terminates.
• Project limit: the extension provision is conditional, so you should not treat the maximum period as a guaranteed appointment. The project's continuation and your performance both matter.
• Doctoral application: the notice says you need to follow up by applying to the PhD programme at IIT Kharagpur through an appropriate department. This is a stated expectation for the research engagement.
