IIT Indore JRF Recruitment 2026: Overview
Indian Institute of Technology Indore (IIT Indore) is hiring a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) for a materials research project in its Department of Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science. The project, MXene-based degradation of life-threatening chemicals and toxic industrial gases, is funded by the Defence Research and Development Establishment under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDE-DRDO). You will join a project appointment at the institute’s Simrol campus, with research visits to partner facilities where needed.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Project tenure: The notice sets an appointment period of 30 months. Your appointment ends with the project, and poor performance can also bring it to an end.
- Research travel: You may need to visit the Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology (RRCAT), Indore, for synchrotron studies at the Indus beamlines. The notice also allows for visits to DRDE, Gwalior, for detoxification studies, so the work may take you beyond the IIT campus.
- PhD route: IIT Indore encourages the selected fellow to seek admission to its PhD programme under institute rules. This encouragement is separate from admission itself and does not guarantee a PhD place.
- Fellowship continuation: If you are selected for the PhD programme, the notice provides for extending the fellowship through the PhD period under institute norms.
- Travel costs: The institute will not pay travelling or daily allowance for appearing in the interview.
