IIMU Head AI Centre of Excellence Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Management Udaipur (IIMU) is setting up an Artificial Intelligence Centre of Excellence (AI CoE) to support research, teaching, innovation and entrepreneurship. The centre will bring advanced graphics processing unit (GPU) computing into a shared facility for faculty, students, startups and external partners.

The Head of the AI CoE will provide executive leadership as the new centre takes shape. The institute wants it to develop into a financially self-supporting innovation platform with recognition across the state and country.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Contract term: The appointment is for three years. Renewal depends on performance and the continuation criteria stated by the institute.
• Work location: This is an onsite position at IIM Udaipur. You will work within the institute while engaging with the wider academic, industry, startup and government community.
• Reporting arrangement: You report to the designated Dean or Faculty Coordinator and work with the CoE Governance Committee. This places the role within the institute’s academic and governance structure.
• Academic direction: The Faculty Coordinator sets the research and academic direction. Your executive role works in close partnership with that coordinator as the centre develops.
• Team structure: Operations, programme and partnership staff, together with administrative staff, report to the Head. The team is expected to grow as the centre expands.
• Continuation measures: Renewal will take account of the centre’s progress towards financial self-sufficiency and its impact objectives. The notice links this progress to infrastructure use, research output, support for startups and revenue.
• Responsible use: The centre operates within institute governance, with attention to data security and ethical use of artificial intelligence. Its resources are intended to be accessible fairly across its user groups.

• Build the centre’s strategy, operating plan and measures of progress towards self-sufficiency.
• Develop government, industry and academic partnerships for grants, sponsored research, training and paid services.
• Manage GPU capacity, access schedules, uptime, security, vendors and equipment replacement planning.
• Help faculty and Executive Education teams use the centre in research, teaching and consultancy.
• Guide students and work with the IIMU Incubation Centre to support existing and new startups.
• Recruit and develop the centre’s team while managing its budget and financial reporting.
• Set data-security and responsible-use guidelines with the governance committee, and report research, usage and revenue outcomes.
