ICFRE FRI Multi-Post Forestry Recruitment 2026: Overview

Forest Research Institute (FRI), under the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE), is hiring project staff in Dehradun. The notice brings together research and support roles for studies on bamboo, neem and planting material for the wood industry. These are temporary project engagements, with each appointment linked to its own research project.

Posts and Disciplines

• Project Scientist II: A role in the Forest Ecology and Climate Change division for the study of bamboo niches and genetic potential for the pulp and paper industry.
• Project Associate I: Assigned to the same bamboo project under Dr. Vijender Pal Panwar, with funding from DPIIT, New Delhi.
• Project Associate: Linked to Dr. Ashok Kumar’s IFFCO-funded neem improvement project, which focuses on dwarf genotypes and neem products with enriched active constituents.
• Technical Assistant and Scientific Assistant: Support positions attached to the bamboo study in Forest Ecology and Climate Change.
• Project Assistant, plywood and panel project: Attached to work on evaluating and extending ICFRE-developed clones and varieties for the plywood and panel industry.
• Project Assistant and Field Assistant, bamboo planting material: Attached to production and technology transfer through public-private partnership under the National Bamboo Mission project.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Project tenure: Most rows state an initial term of one year. The neem Project Associate engagement runs up to March 2027. Your appointment remains tied to the relevant project rather than a common term for the whole drive.
• Funding and completion: The stated term, project completion or availability of funds determines the end of the engagement, whichever comes first. An extension may be considered under ICFRE rules.
• No employment guarantee: The fellowship follows ICFRE rules and does not promise a later appointment at any institute under the council. Consider the project term itself when weighing the opportunity.
• Travel costs: You will not receive TA or DA for attending the interview. Plan your visit to Dehradun with those costs in mind.
• Recruitment discretion: The FRI Director may increase or reduce positions, or decide not to fill a notified post, without a further notice.
• Language of the notice: The English version is the standard if the Hindi and English versions differ. Check the project-specific row when matching your intended role.
