Gujarat University (GU) Teaching Assistant/Research Associate Recruitment 2026 - 2 Posts

Gujarat University (GU) has released a notification for 2 Teaching Assistant / Research Associate posts in the Department of Library and Information Science, Ahmedabad. This is a purely adhoc and contractual position for a duration of 10 months from the date of joining, or until the tenure is completed, whichever is earlier. No stipend is paid during the Diwali and summer vacation periods, and the university can discontinue the position at any time. Candidates with a strong academic record in Library Science who want short-term teaching experience at a university level should apply.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: Master's degree with 55% marks (without grace marks or rounding off) in Library and Information Science from a recognized university, OR
• Alternate Qualification: A Ph.D. awarded by a foreign university/institution ranked in the top 500 of the World University Rankings (QS, THE, or ARWU - Shanghai Jiao Tong University list)
• Job Role: You will handle academic, assessment and administrative tasks assigned by the Department of Library and Information Science and Gujarat University

Salary

• Selected candidates will get a consolidated salary of Rs. 45,000 per month.
• No other extra benefits or allowances are paid apart from this consolidated amount.
• Stipend is not paid during Diwali and summer vacations.

Selection Process

Gujarat University will select candidates through the following process:

1. Application Scrutiny: Your timely submitted application will be screened at the department level for eligibility.
2. Written Test (if required): If a large number of applications are received, a written test may be conducted by the department.
3. Shortlisting: Only shortlisted candidates, as per the ratio decided by the departmental committee, will be called for the next stage.
4. Document Verification: Your original documents will be checked before the interview starts, so carry all originals with you.
5. Interview with Demo Lecture: You must prepare a 10-minute PowerPoint presentation and also be ready to teach the same topic using the chalk and board method if the committee asks.

No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
