Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) Limited — a 50:50 SPV jointly owned by the Government of India and Government of Gujarat — has released Notification No. GMRCL/HR/RECT/Systems/May-2026/18 dated 20th May 2026 for 28 Systems posts across 18 different roles. The engagement is for a minimum 3 years extendable up to 5 years based on performance. Candidates from railways, metros, Railway PSUs, government organisations and the private sector are all welcome.

Who Can Apply?

General Manager (Traction)

  • Qualification: Graduate engineer in Electrical / Electrical & Electronics from a Govt. recognised University.
  • Experience: Minimum 17 years (IDA/CDA scale) or 20 years (private sector) of post-qualification executive experience in Traction / DC Traction / HV Power systems.

Deputy General Manager (Operations / E&M / Signalling / Traction)

  • Qualification: B.E./B.Tech in Electrical / Electronics / Mechanical / Computer / Information Technology / Power Electronics / Instrumentation (post-specific) from a Govt. recognised University.
  • Experience: Minimum 10 years in private sector OR 8 years in PSU / Metro Corporation in the relevant domain.

Asst. Manager (Operations / Rolling Stock / E&M / Signalling / Traction / Civil-Track)

  • Qualification: B.E./B.Tech in Electrical / Electronics / Mechanical / Civil / Computer / Power Electronics / Instrumentation (post-specific).
  • Experience: Minimum 7 years in private sector OR 5 years in Govt./PSU/Metro Rail.

Supervisor (Operations)

  • Qualification: B.E./B.Tech in Electrical / Electronics / Mechanical / Computer / IT.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years as Station Controller / Train Operator / Traffic Controller in Metro Rail / Railway / Railway PSU.

Section Engineer (Traction / Rolling Stock / E&M / Signalling / Telecom / Track)

  • Qualification: B.E./B.Tech in Electrical / Electronics / Mechanical / Civil / Power Electronics / Instrumentation (post-specific).
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of post-qualification relevant experience.

Preference will be given to candidates who have worked in Gujarat for at least 3 years and are conversant with the Gujarati language.

Age Limit

Age and experience are reckoned as on 20.05.2026.

  • General Manager: 57 years (contract), 58 years (deputation), 62 years (post-superannuation)
  • Deputy General Manager: 45 years (contract), 58 years (deputation), 62 years (post-superannuation)
  • Asst. Manager: 35 years
  • Supervisor / Section Engineer: 32 years
  • Age limit does not apply to existing GMRCL employees.

Salary

  • General Manager (Traction): Revised IDA scale Rs. 1,20,000 - 2,80,000 (Approx. CTC Rs. 3,40,000/month); post-superannuation consolidated pay Rs. 1,70,000/month
  • Deputy General Manager (all): Revised IDA scale Rs. 70,000 - 2,00,000 (Approx. CTC Rs. 2,10,000/month); post-superannuation consolidated pay Rs. 1,00,000/month
  • Asst. Manager (all): Revised IDA scale Rs. 50,000 - 1,60,000 (Approx. CTC Rs. 1,20,000/month)
  • Supervisor / Section Engineer: Revised IDA scale Rs. 40,000 - 1,25,000 (Approx. CTC Rs. 95,000/month)
  • Plus Group medical coverage, Group personal accident insurance and other benefits as per GMRCL policy

Selection Process

Selection is through interview — there is no written exam:

  1. Document Verification: Candidates carry original certificates of age, qualification, experience and current CTC; verification happens before the interview.
  2. Personal Interview: The interview judges your knowledge, skills, experience, expertise, aptitude and physical fitness.
  3. Medical Examination: Selected candidates undergo medical examination as per the category prescribed for the post.

Preference goes to candidates with experience in the same grade or immediate lower grade with at least 2 years in that grade.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, design and oversee Traction, Rolling Stock, E&M, Signalling, Telecom and Civil-Track systems of the Surat Metro
  • Prepare technical specifications and manage contracts for system installation, testing and commissioning
  • Handle Operations & Maintenance, including OCC management, station working and CMRS certification
  • Maintain electric traction, HV power systems, OHE, AFC, PSD, viaduct and track infrastructure
  • Coordinate with statutory authorities for safety approvals and certifications
  • Supervise junior engineers, technicians and station controllers
  • Ensure compliance with the Metro Rail O&M Act and Metro Rail General Rules (MRGR)
  • Submit operational reports, maintenance logs and safety audits to senior management

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Electrical & Electronics, Electronics & Communication, Mechanical, Civil, Computer, Information Technology, Power Electronics or Instrumentation (post-specific) from a Government recognised University/Institute

Preferred Qualification

Experience in modern urban metro rail systems; working knowledge of Gujarati language and having worked in Gujarat for at least 3 years
