Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) is hiring 6 Chief General Manager/General Manager (Civil) officers for its Ahmedabad and Surat Metro projects. GMRC, a joint venture of the Government of India and Government of Gujarat that runs the Ahmedabad and Surat Metro projects, has released Advertisement No. GMRCL/HR/RECT/Civil/Jul-2026/22 dated 27 July 2026 for 6 posts of Chief General Manager/General Manager (Civil). These are senior leadership posts offered on Contract, Deputation or Post-Superannuation basis for a minimum of 3 years, extendable up to 5 years based on performance. Experienced civil engineers from metro, railway and infrastructure backgrounds — including retired government officers — are encouraged to apply. The number of posts may vary based on further assessment of requirement, and prescribed qualifications are the minimum requirements only — meeting them does not guarantee an interview call.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering from a government-recognized university or institute
• Experience: You need hands-on experience in construction of metro/railway lines, flyovers, RUBs, bridges or multi-storeyed buildings
• For Chief General Manager (CGM) level: Minimum 23 years of post-qualification experience in a reputed private organization, OR minimum 20 years in Government/Indian Railways/PSU/Metro Rail Corporation (with at least 17 years at Executive level and 4 years in SAG/GM grade or equivalent Pay Level 14)
• For General Manager (GM) level: Minimum 20 years of post-qualification experience with recent service at Pay Level 14 (SAG/NFSAG) or equivalent IDA scale, or at least 2 years at Level 13/13A
• Applying on post-superannuation basis: You should be presently working at, or retired from, IDA pay scale Rs. 1,20,000-2,80,000 or CDA Pay Matrix Level 14 or above

Note: If GMRC does not find enough suitable candidates for the advertised grade, candidates from a lower pay scale meeting the required qualification, total experience and age criteria may also be considered.

Age Limit

• Maximum 57 years if applying on contract/deputation basis.
• Maximum 62 years if applying on post-superannuation basis.
• Age and experience are counted as on 28 July 2026.
• Age limit does not apply to existing GMRCL employees, but relaxation does not apply to officials re-employed after superannuation.

Salary

• Selected candidates will get Rs. 1,44,200 to Rs. 2,18,200 per month under 7th CPC Pay Matrix Level 14, or the equivalent revised IDA scale of Rs. 1,20,000 to Rs. 2,80,000 per month.
• PSU candidates on consolidated pay need a minimum CTC of Rs. 2,50,000 per month to be eligible at GM level.
• You will also get Group medical coverage and Group personal accident insurance as per GMRCL policy.
• Other benefits are paid as per GMRC's Company Policy, in addition to the base pay.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

1. Personal Interview: Conducted at a venue, date and time informed in advance.
2. Document Verification: Done before the interview — carry original certificates.
3. Medical Examination: As per the category prescribed for the post.

Preference is given to candidates with experience in the same grade or an immediately lower grade with 2 years of experience in that grade. GMRC reserves the right to offer a lower grade than the one you applied for, based on its assessment.
