GMCH Senior Resident and CMO Recruitment 2026: Overview

Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Chandigarh is filling Senior Resident and Casualty Medical Officer posts through a walk-in drive. Service Conditions and Caveats

• Initial appointment: The tenure starts with six months. GMCH may extend it according to its needs, or it may end when a regular appointee joins.
• Work and conduct: Continuation depends on satisfactory performance and conduct. The notice allows the hospital to end the appointment if these are found unsatisfactory.
• Residency ceiling: Earlier Senior Residency under the Central Residency Scheme counts towards the overall three-year limit. Your previous service is therefore relevant to the tenure available here.
• Future recruitment: Selection in this walk-in drive does not replace a later regular application. You must apply again when GMCH releases its regular recruitment advertisement.
• Reservation: Category benefits follow Chandigarh's rules. For Other Backward Classes (OBC), the notice sets out community-list and Chandigarh-belonging conditions. Moving from another state does not automatically give you Chandigarh's OBC benefits.
• Changes to the drive: The advertised positions are tentative. The Director Principal may amend or cancel all or part of the recruitment.
• Travel: You must cover your own interview travel and stay. GMCH will not pay travelling or daily allowance.
