GCF Design Engineer Recruitment 2026: Overview

Gun Carriage Factory (GCF), Jabalpur, a unit of Advanced Weapons and Equipment India Limited (AWEIL) under the Ministry of Defence, is hiring Design Engineers for its defence projects. The contractual engagement covers mechanical design and electrical or electronic system development, linking design work with manufacturing, integration and testing.

Posts and Disciplines

• Mechanical: This role supports modelling and engineering analysis for defence projects at GCF, with a focus on components, assemblies and production tooling.
• Electrical/Electronics: This role covers electrical and electronic systems, including circuit development, control architecture and integration with other engineering systems.

Post-wise Duties

Design Engineer Mechanical

You will develop layouts and models using Siemens NX, analyse designs and work with fabrication teams to resolve problems. The work also includes engineering manuals, manufacturing drawings and designs for jigs, fixtures, tools and gauges.

Design Engineer Electrical/Electronics

You will develop electrical designs and simulation models, prepare wiring and circuit drawings, and support system testing. You will also keep design records current and work with manufacturing and integration teams to solve technical issues.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: The initial contract runs for one year and can extend to a total of three years, including the first year. Extensions depend on project requirements and your performance.
• Work location: The advertised workplace is Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. You must also be willing to work at another location if GCF decides this is necessary.
• Working week: Your usual production schedule is 8 hours a day over 6 days, making 48 hours a week. GCF decides the work pattern according to its production needs.
• Performance reviews: The factory reviews your work every half year. If performance is unsatisfactory, you get three months to improve before another review; continued poor performance can lead to termination with 15 days of notice.
• Leave: Paid leave is available for 12 days a year, adjusted to the length of your contract. Unused leave cannot be carried forward or exchanged for cash, and leave beyond your entitlement can lead to deductions.
• Contract status: This engagement gives you no claim to regular employment. You must follow the factory rules governing work and conduct throughout your contract.
• Ending the contract: Either side can end the engagement with one month of notice or the notice payment described in the advertisement. Serious misconduct or unauthorised absence can result in immediate termination.
• Communication: Keep your email address and mobile number active throughout recruitment. GCF sends calls to shortlisted applicants through email or the application portal and may also use SMS.
• Reserve panel: A reserve list may be drawn up where suitable applicants are available. It lasts for one year or until the next panel becomes available, whichever happens first; joining from this list depends on GCF's needs.
• Recruitment changes: GCF can change the intake according to its requirements and may amend or cancel the exercise. If the language versions differ, the English advertisement takes priority.
