Who Can Apply?
Educational Qualification

Salary
- The post is in Pay Level 5 of the 7th CPC pay matrix.
- Salary range is Rs. 29,200 to Rs. 92,300 per month.

- Selected candidates can be posted at sites under the Sri Vijaya Puram Directorate and may be transferred anywhere in India.
Selection Process
The selection process has four main stages after scrutiny of applications:
- Written Examination: Eligible applicants will be called for an MCQ-based written test.
- Trade Test: Candidates who pass the written test will attend a trade test, which is qualifying in nature.
- Document Verification: Original certificates will be checked before final selection.
- Medical Fitness Test: Provisional appointment depends on medical fitness and final verification of education, category and character details.
No TA or other expenses will be paid for the written exam, trade test or document verification, except admissible fare reimbursement for unemployed ST candidates as per rules.

- Fill the form in your own handwriting using a blue or black ball pen.
- Paste one recent colour photograph and attach two extra identical colour photographs with your name and category written on the back.
- Attach self-attested copies of age proof, qualification certificates, category certificate, experience or government service documents if applicable, and other required papers.
- Attach ST or EWS certificate if you are applying against the reserved vacancy, and attach the required disability or age-relaxation certificate if you claim any benefit.
- Do not send an incomplete form, unsigned form, old photograph or application after the deadline because such forms can be rejected.
- Write Application for the post of Navigational Assistant Grade-III on the envelope.

Responsibilities
- Monitor lighthouse and navigational aid systems at assigned sites
- Assist with operation and upkeep of electronic communication equipment
- Check field instruments, log readings and report technical faults promptly
- Support preventive maintenance of navigational equipment and site infrastructure
- Follow safety rules while working around electrical and electronic systems
- Prepare basic reports and maintain station records for technical work
- Work at any site or station assigned by the Directorate as required

Exam Pattern
The written exam will be an MCQ-based test with 100 questions for 100 marks.
Subject-wise Breakdown
- General Knowledge and Aptitude: 40 marks, including numerical aptitude, qualitative aptitude, quantitative aptitude and reasoning.
- Technical Subject: 60 marks based on the Navigational Assistant Grade-III trade area.
Negative marking: One-third mark will be deducted for each wrong answer. No marks will be deducted for unanswered questions.
Candidates who qualify in the written test must attend a trade test. The trade test is qualifying in nature, and final selection is based on written exam merit among candidates who clear the trade test.
