CSIR NEERI Technical Assistant and Technical Officer Recruitment 2026: Overview
CSIR-National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (CSIR-NEERI) is recruiting regular technical staff for its headquarters in Nagpur and its regional centres. The institute belongs to the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), under the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Ministry of Science and Technology. This drive brings together science communication, engineering, laboratory science and business support, with different work areas linked to individual post codes.
Posts and Disciplines
- Technical Assistant, TA-01: science communication, science policy and project management support.
- Technical Officer, TO-01: Civil Engineering, supporting the institute's scientific facilities and site or field work.
- Technical Officer, TO-02 and TO-03: Biochemistry and Microbiology, respectively, for scientific facility, laboratory and field assignments.
- Technical Officer, TO-04 and TO-05: Chemical Engineering and Chemistry, respectively, within the institute's technical work.
- Technical Officer, TO-06 and TO-07: Geoinformatics and Geology, respectively, supporting scientific facilities and field activities.
- Technical Officer, TO-08: marketing, business development, intellectual property rights and business analytics.
Post-wise Duties
Technical Assistant
You will help share scientific work and support science policy and project management. This role connects the institute's research with communication and project support needs.
Technical Officer
For the engineering and science post codes, you will work in scientific facilities, laboratories, sites or field settings. The business post code has a different focus: you will support the institute's marketing, business development, intellectual property and business analysis work.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Posting and transfer: Your initial assignment may be at Nagpur or a regional centre in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata or Hyderabad. You must also be ready for transfer to another CSIR laboratory or institute anywhere in India.
- Probation: The initial probation lasts one year from joining. The competent authority may shorten or extend it, and confirmation follows successful completion under the applicable rules.
- Other job applications: You cannot apply for appointments elsewhere during probation. Tell the laboratory immediately after joining about applications you had already made to other organisations.
- Reservation: Disability reservation operates horizontally across community categories. OBC claims must meet Central List and non-creamy-layer requirements, rather than relying only on a state list.
- Recruitment changes: The institute may change the advertised vacancies, leave posts unfilled or cancel the advertisement. Keep track of recruitment updates on the institute's website.
- Application choices: You may apply for different post codes when you meet each code's requirements. Separate applications are needed for each code, and only the latest completed application is considered when you apply more than once for the same code.
- Final submission: Check your entries carefully before final submission because later corrections are not allowed. Submitted applications cannot be withdrawn.
- Language and communication: The English notification takes precedence if its Hindi version differs. Recruitment updates appear online, so you need to follow the website throughout the process.
