CSIR IHBT Multi Post Recruitment 2026: Overview

CSIR-Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology (CSIR-IHBT), part of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, is recruiting project staff through walk-ins at Palampur, Himachal Pradesh. Advertisement 16/2026 brings together temporary research engagements covering bioresources, agriculture, chemistry, computing and disease research.

Posts and Disciplines

• Chemistry and sustainable materials: Senior-PAT and Project Associate-I roles support floral-waste dyes and compost, and the use of invasive weeds in chrome-free leather tanning.
• Plant and agricultural research: Young Professional-I works on German chamomile, while Project Associate-I, Project Associate-II and Project Assistant-II roles support soil and plant health research. Another Project Associate-I role belongs to the heeng cultivation project.
• Bioresource conservation: A Project Assistant-II role is attached to the conservation and prospection project.

Post-wise Duties

Senior-PAT

You will support the assigned chemistry research project, with work connected to natural colours, dyes, natural products or synthesis according to the position code.

Project Associate-I and Project Associate-II

Your project determines whether you work with chemical research, crop trials, field data, computational analysis or web applications. These are distinct assignments, so a shared Associate title does not mean that every position has the same daily work.

Young Professional-I

You will support the German chamomile characterisation project, whose work concerns new selections and an existing variety of the plant.

Project Assistant-II

You will assist the agricultural or bioresource project linked to your code, supporting field observations, plant collection or laboratory activity as relevant to that assignment.

Project Research Scientist-I

You will support CYST-OMICS, which studies metabolomic and proteomic features to help understand neurocysticercosis and epilepsy.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Project-linked engagement: The appointment is on behalf of the sponsoring agency and ends with the project tenure or after six years, whichever comes first. Individual projects have their own stated end points.
• No regular appointment claim: Project service does not create a right to regularisation or a permanent CSIR position.
• Performance review: Your work will be reviewed every six months, and unsatisfactory performance can lead to termination.
• Travel costs: No travelling allowance is paid for attending.
• Interpretation: The English version of the advertisement governs disputes, and the Director's decision on engagement matters is final.
