BRIC-NABI Research Associate Recruitment 2026: Overview

BRIC-National Agri-Food and Biomanufacturing Institute (BRIC-NABI), an autonomous institute of the Department of Biotechnology in Mohali, Punjab, is filling temporary research posts under Advertisement No. NABI/Admin/5(09)/2026-27/Academic-11. All four openings sit in the institute's food and nutritional biotechnology division and work on genome editing of crop plants — hexaploid wheat and Indian mustard (Brassica juncea). Posts and Disciplines

• Research Associate-1 (EP-09, wheat): a postdoctoral post in the project Genome editing in hexaploid wheat for trait improvement, led by Prof. Ashwani Pareek with Dr. Ajay K. Pandey. Experience in wheat tissue culture and transformation is a plus.
• Research Associate-1 (EP-11, mustard): a postdoctoral post in the project Genome editing in Indian Mustard under Dr. Sivasubramanian R, with a focus on disease resistance. Brassica transformation experience is a plus.
• Senior Project Associate (EP-10, wheat): a senior project post in the wheat trait-improvement project under Dr. Ajay K. Pandey, open to experienced science, agriculture, engineering or medical graduates and postgraduates.
• Project Associate-II (EP-11, mustard): a project post in the mustard genome-editing project that needs a national eligibility test such as CSIR-UGC NET or GATE along with R&D experience.

Post-wise Duties

Research Associate-1

You will run genome-editing experiments for crop improvement — cloning, plant transformation and tissue culture — and help the investigators prepare funding-agency reports and research manuscripts.

Senior Project Associate

You will drive the wheat trait-improvement editing work day to day and contribute to project reports and publications.

Project Associate-II

You will support the disease-resistance editing work in mustard, handle lab techniques and help with reports and manuscripts.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: All posts are purely temporary and co-terminus with the project. After the first year, extensions of up to two more years depend on your performance and available funds.
• Interview mode differs by post: the two Research Associate-1 posts allow walk-in or online interviews, but the Senior Project Associate and Project Associate-II posts are walk-in only — online interview requests will not be considered.
