High Court of Judicature at Allahabad has released Advertisement No. 01/Research Associates/2026 for contractual Research Associate engagement during 2026-27. The notification says the engagement will be for one year and may be extended up to a maximum of three years based on satisfactory performance. This is a legal research role attached to Judges, so it is useful for fresh law graduates who want court-side research and drafting experience.

Who Can Apply?

Law Degree Requirement

• Qualification: You need a 5-year or 3-year LL.B. degree from a law college or university recognised by the Bar Council of India.
• Allowed batches: Law graduates from academic sessions 2026, 2025 and 2024 can apply.
• Marks requirement: You must have scored at least 55% marks in the LL.B. examination. No rounding off is allowed.
• Final-year students: If your final-year LL.B. result for 2026 is awaited, you can apply, but you must produce the final marksheet at the time of interview or joining and must meet the 55% marks rule.

Other Conditions

• Computer knowledge: Working knowledge of data entry, word processing and similar computer operations is required.
• Marital condition: You cannot have more than one living spouse, and you cannot be married to a person who already has a legally living spouse.
• Criminal case condition: A person involved in a criminal case, whether convicted or charge-sheeted, is not eligible.
• Previous engagement: Anyone who has already worked as a Research Associate with the High Court cannot apply again.

Age Limit

• You must have completed 21 years of age as on 1 July 2026.
• You must not have completed 26 years of age as on 1 July 2026.
• The portal also explains this as born on or before 1 July 2005 and born on or after 2 July 2000.

Salary

• Selected Research Associates will get a fixed honorarium of Rs. 40,000 per month.
• The notification says this amount is subject to upward revision.
• No separate allowances, residential accommodation or other perquisites are attached to this engagement.

• All candidates must pay Rs. 500 plus applicable bank charges.
• Payment mode is online only.
• The notification says no fee concession is available for any category.

Selection Process

The full selection process carries 100 marks and is completed in three main steps:

1. Weightage Marks (20 marks): Marks are given for Hindi and English language performance at Class 10 or 12 level, LL.B. academic performance and co-curricular activities such as moot court participation or legal paper publication.
2. Screening Test (60 marks): The test is a descriptive paper of one hour. The notification says it may be held at Prayagraj.
3. Interview (20 marks): Interview marks are used with the weightage marks and screening test marks for final merit.
4. Document Verification: Original documents are checked before final eligibility and engagement.

Candidates up to three times the number of existing vacancies or 150 candidates, as decided by the committee, may be shortlisted for the screening and interview stage. The Screening Test and Interview are scheduled for 8 August 2026.

7. Pay the Rs. 500 fee online through the payment page.
8. Update the transaction reference number and payment date by 23 June 2026.
9. Download and preserve the completely filled application form for future use.
