UNOM Multi-Post Recruitment 2026: Overview

University of Madras (UNOM) has announced tenure appointments for senior roles in examinations, distance and online education, and college development. These appointments belong to different parts of the university, with separate conditions for each role. The tenure arrangement matters if you are moving from an existing institution: the Controller and Professor cum Director appointments do not make you a permanent university employee.

Posts and Disciplines

• Controller of Examinations: the university's examinations post, identified separately from its academic leadership appointments.
• Professor cum Director: the leadership post in the Centre for Distance and Online Education, with an academic focus on this mode of education.
• Dean: the appointment attached to the College Development Council. Apply under this exact post name when choosing the position on the form.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Controller and Director tenure: each appointment runs for two years. The Syndicate can extend it by one more year; neither appointment creates permanent employment.
• Dean tenure: the term of office is three years. This is a tenure appointment under the notice.
• Joining: if selected, you must be ready to join immediately and sign an agreement under the university's rules.
• Recruitment discretion: the Syndicate can decide whether to fill the posts. Applying does not guarantee an appointment.
• Conduct: canvassing or attempting to influence the process can disqualify you. Keep the university informed of changes to any declared court case, criminal case or disciplinary action until recruitment ends.

Application Submission Notes

Address your application by designation to The Convener, VC-Convener Committee, University of Madras. Use the university's prescribed form, and send a separate application if you want consideration for more than one post.

If you already work in an institution, apply through the proper channel; you may send seven advance copies if forwarding could be delayed, but the forwarded application must still arrive in time for consideration. Draw the demand draft in favour of The Registrar, University of Madras, payable at Chennai; incomplete or late applications will be rejected.
