Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS) has released a notification for 1 Project Assistant post at the Livestock Research Station, Kattupakkam, Chengalpattu District. The post is under the Chief Minister's Research Grant (CMRG) scheme of the Department of Higher Education, Government of Tamil Nadu, for the research project titled "Development of eco-friendly essential oils based anti-tick formulation for the control of cattle tick (Rhipicephalus microplus) in Tamil Nadu". This is a purely temporary, contractual position for a maximum duration of 3 years (up to 31 January 2029) or till the project ends, whichever is earlier.

Who Can Apply?

Essential Educational Qualification

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Veterinary Science / Animal Science
• OR Master's degree in Entomology / Agriculture / Life Sciences / Biotechnology / Pharmaceutical Sciences or a related discipline from a recognised university or institution

Preference

• Candidates with First Class or equivalent grade in the qualifying degree will be preferred

Desirable Experience

• Experience in maintenance of ticks in the laboratory for in-vitro trials
• Entomological data recording in bioassays
• Experience in handling laboratory animals
• Experience in using Probit analysis and SPSS/R software
• Research publications in peer-reviewed journals related to the relevant field

Age Limit

• You should be between 21 and 45 years old
• Age relaxation is applicable as per Government / TANUVAS norms

Salary

• Consolidated salary of Rs. 25,000 per month
• No other allowances are admissible

Selection Process

The selection will be done in the following steps:

1. Screening of Applications: Based on academic qualifications, experience, and research credentials
2. Written Test (if needed): May be conducted to shortlist candidates if a large number of applications are received
3. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be informed through email or phone and called for an interview
4. Final Selection: Based on performance in the interview and relevant experience

No TA/DA will be paid for attending the written test or interview.

• Collect hard ticks from cattle in various districts of Tamil Nadu
• Maintain cattle ticks (eggs, larvae and adults) in the laboratory for in-vitro bioassays including Larval Immersion Test, Larval Repellent Test and Egg Hatchability Test
• Handle laboratory animals such as mice and rabbits for experimental work
• Conduct in-vivo trials for application of anti-tick formulations on cattle
• Collect and analyse entomological data and bioassay results using Probit analysis and SPSS/R software
• Manage purchase, records and maintenance of consumable items and contingencies
• Keep records of results in both soft and hard copy formats and track budget
• Assist the Principal Investigator and Co-PI in preparing project reports
