SGPGIMS Post Doctoral Fellow Recruitment 2026: Overview
Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS), Lucknow is filling Post Doctoral Fellow (PDF) seats in four super-speciality departments through its October walk-in round. These are one-year regular PDF programmes under the institute's rolling advertisement, which opens fresh seats every quarter. Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery has the most seats this round, including two in Minimally Invasive CVTS — a good opening if you already hold a DM, MCh or DNB and want a year of focused sub-speciality training at a leading super-speciality institute.
Posts and Disciplines
- Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery (CVTS): fellowships in Pediatric CVTS and Minimally Invasive CVTS.
- Neurosurgery: fellowships in Skull Base and Spine Surgery and Neuro Endoscopy.
- Neurology: fellowships in Neurophysiology and Neuro Critical Care.
- Urology: fellowships in Renal Transplantation Surgery, Pediatric Urology and Uro-Oncology.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Tenure: Each fellowship is a one-year appointment.
- Seat count can change: The institute says the number of seats may be increased or decreased, so check the latest seat matrix before you travel.
- Recognised degree only: Your super-speciality degree must be recognised by the medical council. Degrees from departments whose recognition is still under consideration are not accepted, and a candidature can be cancelled at any stage if this comes to light later.
- Indian nationals only: Only Indian citizens can apply.
- Travel costs: No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview.
- Joining: If you do not join by the date given in your offer letter, the seat goes to the next candidate on the waiting list.
Application Submission Notes
Fill in the prescribed application format from the institute's current-openings page and pay the fee by NEFT/RTGS to Director, SGPGI (Academic Account). Then send the form, documents and fee receipt by Speed Post to The Executive Registrar, SGPGIMS, Raebareli Road, Lucknow 226014.
Also email the same set of scanned documents to erexam.sgpgi@gmail.com with the subject line "Application for PDF in the Department of …" (add your department). On the walk-in day, go to your department's office for document verification between 10:30 AM and 1:30 PM, and then to the School of Telemedicine, Ground Floor, for the interview between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM.
