Presidency University, Kolkata has released a notification for 1 Junior Research Fellow post under the ANRF-Advanced Research Grant (ARG) funded project "Therapeutic intervention with combination of anti-inflammatory and senolytic drugs in management of vascular calcification" at the Institute of Health Sciences. The project is led by Dr. Arunima Sengupta, Associate Professor, and runs for three years. The selected candidate may also enrol for a Ph.D. program as per university rules — a strong opportunity for biology graduates who want a research career. The Institute of Health Sciences at Presidency University's second campus in New Town, Kolkata, focuses on biomedical and translational research, and this JRF post gives you a chance to work on a funded project studying how ageing and inflammation contribute to vascular (blood vessel) calcification.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: MSc/MS/BS-MS or equivalent in any branch of Biology with a minimum of 55% marks (or equivalent grade) from a recognized university.
• Additional Requirement: You must qualify the National Eligibility Test (NET) at the JRF/LS/PhD level, or the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE).
• Desirable (not mandatory): Hands-on experience in cell culture, mouse handling, and molecular biology techniques; prior experience in bioinformatics-based applications.
• Eligibility Note: You do not need prior research experience to apply, but candidates with lab experience in the areas listed above will have an advantage during shortlisting.

Salary

• Selected candidates will get a fellowship of Rs. 37,000 per month plus 30% HRA (approximately Rs. 48,100 per month total), as per ANRF-ARG norms.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

There is no written test for this JRF post. Your selection will be based on shortlisting followed by an interview:

1. Shortlisting: Based on your CV, research statement, and referee feedback. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for the interview.
2. In-Person Interview: Held at Tower 1, Institute of Health Sciences, Presidency University (2nd Campus), New Town, Kolkata, on 7 August 2026 at 11:00 AM. The interview will assess your academic background, communication skills, and understanding of the research area.
3. Document Verification: Bring your original mark sheets, grade cards, and NET/GATE scorecard for verification. Self-attested photocopies are accepted at the interview, subject to verification of originals later if you are selected.
