Panjab University Chandigarh has invited candidates for a walk-in interview to fill 1 post of Lab Technician at the Dr. S. S. Bhatnagar University Institute of Chemical Engineering & Technology (UICET). This is a temporary position for 11 months, or as per fund availability, with further extension possible based on requirement and performance. No written exam is required — selection is entirely through direct interview and document verification on the spot.

Who Can Apply?

• Essential Qualification: B.Sc./Diploma in Engineering and Technology (3 years), or B.E./B.Tech in Chemical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or any allied field.
• Desirable Qualification: M.Sc. in Analytical Chemistry/Industrial Chemistry/Instrumentation, or M.E./M.Tech.
• Desirable Experience: 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting high-end analytical equipment such as GC, HPLC, and FTIR in an academic research facility or industrial R&D laboratory.

Salary

• You will get a fixed salary of Rs. 30,000 per month for 11 months, or as per fund availability, extendable based on requirement and performance.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is through a Walk-in-Interview only:

• Operate and manage analytical instruments such as GC, HPLC, FTIR, UV-Vis Spectrophotometers, Rheometers, and Particle Size Analyzers
• Perform routine preventive maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment
• Coordinate with vendors and OEMs for repairs, AMCs, and software upgrades
• Maintain logbooks, user manuals, and maintenance records for all lab equipment
• Manage inventory of consumables, standard reagents, and spare parts
• Ensure laboratory safety and compliance protocols are followed
• Support researchers, faculty, and students with equipment operation and data collection
