National Law University Delhi (NLUD) is hiring a contractual Consultant for Placement and Career Development to manage its Office of Career Services in New Delhi, connecting student career support with the university's relationships with recruiters. The office serves students from their early internship choices through graduation, with support continuing for those who have not secured a placement during the main recruitment cycle.

The scope covers the LL.B. and LL.M. programmes, the Post Graduate Insolvency Programme (PGIP) leading to an M.A. or LL.M. in Insolvency and Restructuring, and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)–NLU Delhi Joint Master's Programme in Intellectual Property Law and Management. It can also extend to academic programmes introduced during your engagement, so the appointment supports career services across the university rather than a single graduating batch.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Initial tenure: Your contract begins with a one-year term. An extension depends on satisfactory performance and the university's needs, so continuation is not automatic.
• Appointment status: This is a temporary contractual engagement. It does not give you a right to a regular university appointment or absorption into its permanent staff.
• External engagement: The work includes travel and networking, with physical or virtual meetings involving recruiters, law firm partners and corporate legal teams when needed.
• University discretion: NLUD may accept or reject applications, withdraw the advertisement, change the recruitment process or leave the post unfilled without giving a reason.
• Communication: The university contacts shortlisted applicants by telephone and email. If you receive no response within four weeks after the closing date, the notice asks you to treat your application as unsuccessful.
• Travel costs: You must meet your own costs for attending the campus interview. The university will not pay TA/DA for this visit.
• Employment rules: If you already hold a job, your application must go through the proper channel. The notice does not waive this condition for working applicants.

• Manage the Office of Career Services and guide students on internships, placements, CVs, cover letters and career choices.
• Arrange workshops, mock interviews, group discussions and mentoring for legal careers, judiciary preparation and further study.
• Contact law firms, corporate legal teams, financial institutions, policy organisations and international recruiters, and track follow-ups.
• Coordinate Day Zero and Day One recruitment, student preparation, recruiter schedules, offers and pending decisions.
• Support unplaced students until graduation and organise rolling internship opportunities across batches.
• Build institutional partnerships, collaboration agreements, guest lectures, conclaves and panel discussions.
• Find judges, adjudicators and partner organisations for student competitions and support event outreach.
• Coordinate practitioner sessions and short-term programmes, including speaker schedules, communications and student participation.
