National Institute of Technology Raipur (NIT Raipur) is hiring a Project Research Scientist I (Non-Medical) in its Department of Biomedical Engineering for an Indian Council of Medical Research small-grant project. The project, titled A Digital Twin Approach for Personalized Assessment of Knee Osteoarthritis, brings biomechanics and artificial intelligence together to build patient-specific tools for studying knee health. This is a project appointment for a researcher who wants to work across engineering analysis, motion data and clinically relevant validation.

The research is centred on a digital twin: a computational representation that combines biomechanical models with data-driven AI methods. You would help connect experimental and clinical data to those models so the team can test whether its framework reflects real movement and joint behaviour. Motion-capture processing, musculoskeletal modelling and machine learning therefore need to fit into one consistent research workflow rather than being treated as separate tasks.

The post sits within Biomedical Engineering, but its academic base also includes mechanical engineering. A strong biomechanics foundation and working knowledge of OpenSIM are particularly relevant to the project, while experience with AI, machine learning or deep learning will help with the data-driven side of the digital twin. A researcher who can explain modelling choices, keep reproducible records and work with both experimental and clinical inputs will be well placed for this assignment.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Project tenure: The appointment is initially for one year and may continue according to your performance and the availability of project funds.
• Review: Continuation is subject to satisfactory performance, with a review after every four months.
• Project linkage: The appointment is purely temporary and ends with the project. It is governed by the funding agency's conditions and NIT Raipur's applicable rules.
• Interview expenses: NIT Raipur will not pay TA or DA for appearing in the interview.
• Accuracy of claims: You are responsible for the authenticity of the information, records and photograph supplied with your application.
• Institutional decision: The selection committee's decision is final in case of a discrepancy, and the Institute may cancel the recruitment without giving a reason.
