NIT Andhra Pradesh JRF Metallurgy Recruitment 2026: Overview
National Institute of Technology Andhra Pradesh (NIT Andhra Pradesh) at Tadepalligudem is looking for a Junior Research Fellow for a research project run by its Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering. The project is sponsored by the Armament Research Board (ARMREB) of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and studies the corrosion resistance of high nitrogen steel for armour and structural applications. If you enjoy materials testing and want hands-on exposure to defence-funded research, this fellowship puts you right inside an active lab project.
The project is guided by Dr. Raffi Mohammed (DMME, NIT Andhra Pradesh), with Dr. Kiran Teeparthi (Electrical Engineering, NIT Andhra Pradesh) and Dr. Ramavath Bheekya Naik (DMME, NIT Raipur) as co-investigators. You do not need a GATE score to apply — candidates without GATE are also eligible, though GATE holders get a higher fellowship. Students in the final semester of M.E./M.Tech can apply too, as long as they show the degree certificate at joining.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Tenure: The post is purely temporary and ends with the project. The appointment runs for six months or until the project closes, and continuing depends on your performance.
- PhD option: The selected fellow will be encouraged to register for a PhD at NIT Andhra Pradesh, provided you meet the institute's eligibility norms.
- No regular-post claim: You will have no claim to a regular position, and benefits such as institute housing and medical facilities given to regular staff do not apply.
- Cut-off for eligibility: Your qualification, experience and age are judged as on the last date for receiving applications.
- Interview travel: No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview.
- Duties: The institute may assign you work inside or outside the campus depending on project needs, and you must follow institute rules once you join.
- Document checks: Your documents and background can be verified at joining or during the tenure; fake documents or hidden antecedents lead to immediate termination and possible legal action.

B.E./B.Tech and M.E./M.Tech with first class (60% or 6.5 CGPA) from a recognised University/Institute in Metallurgical Engineering, Metallurgical & Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or any allied branch. Final-semester M.E./M.Tech students may apply but must produce the degree certificate at joining.
