NISER JRF CMRP Recruitment 2026: Overview

National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) Bhubaneswar, an autonomous institute under the Department of Atomic Energy, is engaging a Junior Research Fellow in its Centre for Medical and Radiation Physics at Jatni, Odisha. The fellow will join an ANRF-funded project on the design, fabrication and characterisation of low-gain avalanche detectors for ultra-fast timing. The detector work connects semiconductor research with radiation detection and medical-imaging applications, so the role brings device studies, signal handling and experimental data work together. This is a project appointment rather than admission to a NISER doctoral programme.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Project tenure: The first appointment is for eleven months. It may be extended when your performance is satisfactory, but the position remains tied to the life of the funded project.
• Temporary status: This fellowship creates no automatic claim to a regular NISER post. It ends with the project even if the initial engagement has been extended.
• Academic status: Appointment as the fellow does not by itself lead to a PhD degree at NISER. You should treat it as research employment under the named project, not as doctoral enrolment.
• Research setting: The work is based in the Centre for Medical and Radiation Physics, where you will support detector development and the associated measurement workflow. Familiarity with device simulation, signal-processing code or data-acquisition systems will be useful in adapting to the laboratory.
• Interaction mode: The selection interaction is held online through Google Meet. NISER can use the application records for initial checking before deciding whom to invite.
• Travel support: NISER will not pay TA or DA for attending the interaction or for joining the position. Any cost connected with joining at the Jatni campus is therefore your responsibility.
• Extension test: Renewal is not automatic and depends on both satisfactory work and continued project needs. The institute does not promise absorption after the project closes.
